DVD drive fitting?
« on: 21 May, 2008, 12:44:50 am »

I have just been trying to fit and connect a DVD drive to my computer, ideally I want to keep my CD burner drive aswell.

Initial connections were CD burner still on Master furthest from board and DVD set to slave next in.
but the system won't start, it gets as far as the windows XP logo and bar moving underneath and just hangs there.
 I've disconnected it for now.
I've had enough for tonight but any other suggestions will be attempted later  :)

Does it get detected correctly in the BIOS screen? Did you set the jumper on the drive to slave or cable select?

BIOS - you'll see the option for "setup" before the windows startup.  Probably F1 or F1 or DEL.

Once into that that's the actual computer, not the operating system.

Yup.   But READ THE SCREEN.  (sorry for caps, but RTFM is common at work) and that'll tell you what key to hit.

Once windows has started to load it's too late.
