Route sheet received. It's pretty much an up to Malmesbury and back again with some interesting and varied scenery along the way.

According to one website, the Porton Down road should be open again too.

the infamamous Five all entered and ready to assemble at Denmead shops, 7am.

A good route but a day of mixed fortunes for me:

Never felt that strong all day but a PB for a 300; due to a cracking pace set by Postie and Scampi that had me desperately trying to keep up for most of the way around. Good to see Plodder, Scampi and Pompey Phill at the start but spent most of the second half of the day pretty much on my own. A bit grim on the way up but a tailwind all the way home.

Then there were the mechanicals: IQ fell off and is borked, rear tyre is distorted, bottom bracket borked, shifters shot and it hurts when I pee.

Oh, and I cannot sleep.

Other than that, a fine day out.

firstly I'd like to thank John (Plodder)  for his first rate company, especially the first half out to Malmesbury, as i was not feeling at my best, but felt heaps better on the way back with the wind up our tails.

Hummers, i think there was a bit of confusion just before hurstbrone priors.

had a visitation as i pulled up to the cash machine in Denned to get last receipt.

the weather man got it spot on for a change.
all in all a great ride, good to get a 300 in a bit earlier than normal.

No need for thanks. You returned the favour on the return leg, when I'd run out of energy.

If you have to have a visitation, where better than at the Arrivée and 100m from the car?

All told a good day, only one shower of note, some cracking scenery, good company and no need to revert to a 24" gear.
