Oh No It Wasn't! (sorry.)

I'm still occasionally persevering with The Archers, but usually the omnibuses rather than daily at seven. I agree that the Helen/Rob storyline is long overdue winding up and needs a resolution sooner rather than later, although I do think it's (on the whole) been well handled. As for Toby and Rex... before my time but wasn't there a similar reaction to the Grundys when they were introduced?

Tonight's episode was quite disturbing.

I didn't hear it but I heard my wife's exclamations when she was listening to it.
"The future's all yours, you lousy bicycles."

As you say … disturbing.

But, why is it I always seem to see the potential for humour. One (or perhaps it's just me) can imagine:

<Helen> "You B****** Rob"

<Rob> "Helen, stop! Is that today's Guardian? I haven't … Oof! Ouch! … read … that yet. Gerroff!"
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

Very difficult listening, and (in my opinion) not the best way to wrap up what's generally been a delicately handled storyline. To be honest I expected better.

Yebbut - the continuation will be the arrest, the trial, and how the defence plays out.
She must be convicted of manslaughter (assuming he is actually dead) but I don't think a murder charge would fly.
Remember there is very little evidence of Evil Rob's character in the public domain (the several million witnesses can't be called - honest). It will take a bloody good legal team to string together the threads that  do exist to make up a credible defence.
That's the next slow burning cliff-hanger

Yup. That's a little too final. There's a significant amount of material they've passed on if they had only allowed this one to run. With the added bonus of exploring a whole variety of additional abuse situations.

Deavid Archer is a serial killer though. Jethro and Nigel for starters. Actually just Jethro and Nigel.

Did you really expect him to be dead - that was too much to hope for.

Watch out for the Daily Mail starting a campaign to release/forgive "the Ambridge one" when/if Helen gets banged up.

There was just such a campaign, plus questions in The House by Michael Howard when Susan "Jailbird" Carter got sent down for harbouring a fugitive.

I think that's the point.  The Archers is nothing if not original  ::-)

Well, it's been such a long running story line (with clearly still a lot left in it), that I thought that might be it.

I was hoping it was true as well - it's been way too long a story-line for radio.
