Best program for ripping DVD to mpg?

I want to rip my old PAL DVDs so they will play on my new TVs, which are all NTSC here in the US. It's annoying I have a multi region DVD player but the TVs only display NTSC!!

Whats the best program for making mpgs from DVD. It doesn't have to be free.

You could make NTSC DVDs rather than rip to mpg.

I ended up using Handbrake. It was free and excellent.

Although it doesn't seem to work with Duckula - Vampire Vacation!
