I always look out for them when I'm going through Colne, they do tend to confirm the view of small Pennine towns.

I usually like to avoid reading the story as it spoils it somehow, the sheep batterer was living in Barnoldswick, usually claimed as part of the historic county of Yorkshire, best to make that clear, so as as not to falsely accuse the good folk of Colne.

I don't have a photo, but the Swindon Advertiser also covered a fatal Swedish nightclub fire with the board slogan

DISCO
INFERNO

which adds an undue levity (and groove) to the story.

I too must apologise for lack of photos but could not resist recalling a couple from the Gloucestershire Echo:

"LOVE BABY BOOM SHOCK"

and

"NURSES KNICKERS ROW"

F.W.A!

I saw this one on a ride last night, I did a double take and decided to to take a photo, then I had a think about what it could be refering to; and then I decided I didn't wan't to think about it after all.

I give up.  What does FWA stand for?  I'm assuming you're not part of the Football Writers' Association.

I say we go to the newspaper office and thrash the copy writer.

That really is quite shocking even by local rag standards.

I don't see the problem. The council has obviously decided that getting a load of people busy with paper, glue and coloured macaroni will not only brighten up the town but provide a boost to local employment. Though I'd like to know how much they're going to pay the collage makers, and whether it will be on an hourly basis or per square metre decorated.  :)

I'm not saying it's a good reflection on the state of the world, but I bet the poorly-educated 20-something illiterate copywriter can bluetooth phone pics to his PC.  ;)
