I could see if reinstalling linpus fixes it, but there are some files on the machine that I need (or rather my wife needs - please don't mention the need to back up files -
I do). A mate suggested seeing if I could use linux on a pendrive. Sure enough, xubuntu loads up fine, but I can't get to the SSD (not listed under places), and ones on the flash expansion are all covered with a lock symbol when I navigate to them, and the folders appear empty.
Let me say, I am just about at the level of opening terminal and pasting in stuff I don't understand - ie rubbish at this stuff. Any help would be very welcome.
