Add me to Team Slow—this'll be my first attempt at a 600 too.

Down under - keeping an eye on this thread.
The credit(if that is the right word) for the 3 up team that was dragged at an unreasonable speed to Garb belongs to Boab. In fact that speed was so unreasonable that I refused to have anything to do with it on the return leg - and trundled along steadily at my own pace. After some sleep was amazed to discover  thta my tent was next to Chris S - but then as I seemed to have some aches and pains - I opted to set off ahead of the Flying Boab. Mind you I think she ended up taking  day 2 at a more prudent pace.
So my considered advice is - be careful of the flying Boab - she can lure you towards paces and places that you might not wish to go  ;)

I tend to get the dozies about 3am so this one suited me fine.   Got in at 300k at 10pm and 400k at 3am, sleeping for 3hrs before heading out on Sunday's 200k.

On for this one next year, but I think I'll save entering rides until after Christmas.

I'll be delighted if I can pull off that sort of plan. Something along those lines is what I'll be aiming for, albeit I don't know how I'll do >300km.

Slight thread-jack as I am only entered for the 300.

Will almost certainly be my first 300 - one of my goals for next year is to do a 300.  Had planned to do the Faeries Flattest Possible 300 as my first, but then my girlfriend's favourite band (Pulp) decided they had run out of money to reform , so I have to stand in Hyde Park with a bunch of aging Britpoppers that day.

I am hoping it's a good choice for a first 300 - reports seem to suggest it's not too challenging a route?
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

Marcus you should come ride the 600 with me, I have never done a 300 before either and I have entered the 600  ;D
I am told it is pretty flat and very well supported therefore an ideal first-of-this-distance audax.

Very kind offer!  As I said, it will almost certainly be my first 300 - however, I am planning quite a few 200s early in the year, so if those go well, may step up to 300 earlier than this - if so, I might just be stupid enough to try this.  We'll see how things go over the winter (putting very sensible head on now).

Right! What's next?

The combination of support & terain make it a good candidate for a first 600. I rode last year but am leaning towards the Border Raid for next year as I've not ridden much north of York.

I really fancy the Border Raid but note its an X-event so it seems silly to pass up a second and possibly last opportunity to enjoy K&S's hospitality at Seething, so I'll look to ride the BR another time, possibly as a perm.

I would like to introduce myself to YACF and thank Sue and Keef for staging their wonderful 600 in the PBP qualifying slot, all signed up and looking forward to being part of the family again.

Rave reviews by peeps who normally know about these things and the one click gratification that paypal offers means that I've entered.  Norfolk'n good, indeed.

I just got an email from Keeff; anybody want to buy my place?  ;) I won't be needing it for qualification (whatever that means)

and reserved my camping spot outside; as Keeff says the more that camp the more entries they can take
yes please Martin!

Sleeping under canvas is definately the way to go. Just need a tent and a sleeping bag really. Last year I slept in a £10 festival special.

If you're listening Keeff, I'll be doing the same again this year.

According to Keeff I'm first on his waiting list for a drop out. I  was going to camp and will happily take your place if you and Keeff are amicable.
Audax on the other hand is almost invisible and thought to be the pastime of Hobbits ....  Fab Foodie

Had a most helpful email from the organisers. Edited highlights include:
"We serve a Pasta meal from 5pm onwards. Breakfast will be served on Saturday morning from 5am... there will be two opportunities to get a couple of hours sleep
... my daughter Louise has kindly agreed to serve you with strawberry teas in the garden"

I shall be happy to camp. And even happier to scoff pasta :smug:, breakfast ;D, sleep ::-), and eat strawberries! :o

Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

I'll be doing whatever the opposite of glamping is, in my wee one man tent.  Cramping?

I think what Keeff meant was that if anyone offered to camp he would take another rider off the waiting list; I'd be happy to do it all as a DIY but I don't think that would help
Ah, understand now!, please forgive a hasty late evening reply

I've entered for the 300.  Bit of a long trek from Hampshire, but I promised myself i would make the step up from 200 to 300 this year, and this is the only one that is on suitable date.

Anyone wanting to share a lift up on Friday from M3 corridor or environs of M25 please PM me..... plenty of space in my car for another bike.

Aiming to arrive around 5 pm for the pasta!   Leaving Sunday morning, so only suitable for 300 or fast 600s

I am looking forward to this because I strongly suspect that the first 77k is not all uphill, which it was on the BCM. I measured it on the return leg to my car, after I packed.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

Is the routesheet out yet?

Looking forwards to this. First 600 as well.

My other half is coming along to help out, need to email Keith and see if she can bring some cakes (sure this won't be a problem). She'll also ride the 100.

I take it the camping is of the basic no showers variety?

Scarily close now.

From my GPS log from last year's event it had 3,500 m ascending in 613 km. So slightly
over-distance. Lowest point 0 m, highest point 84 m. Quite evenly distributed throughout
the route. No steep ones, just mild rollers. Very nice ride with excellent organization.
Good roads. Easy to navigate non-technical night section.
