Spelling, grammar, or just fun?

What elevated the entertainment value of this door sign is the function of the next premises in the photo, which is the physio I was visiting for a, yes, that's right

They appear to have fixed it.

What really baffles me is the cartoon monkey image.  Is that the like the smiley faces that some Youtubers have taken to using as a garish alternative to blurring when anonymising people in video?  What's it hiding?

(Incidentally, an Uber Eats cyclist was spotted on the M5 this morning.  Presumably another case of inept sat-navvery.  Given my Garmin's frequent attempts to direct me onto the Aston Expressway when I didn't know my way around, I sympathise, but only up to the point where you stop and sheepishly wheel your bike back up the slip road.)

I don't think the monkey is hiding anything, it's meant to be a "see no evil" monkey, implying they're doing something stupid. Or maybe it's hiding something they were peddling.  :D

Oh, it's that communicating in emoji thing, but overlayed on the photograph?  Is there an app for that?  Who thought that was a good idea?  (Presumably the motorway police, rather than the BBC...)

Humbug.  I suppose emoji reduces cringeworthy spelling, thobut.

I think the overlaying emojis is a Snapchat/Instagram thing, and the use here is the coppers trying to be down with the kids...

Given the rate at which police officers are getting younger, they're probably down without even trying...

My biggest pet-hate is apostrophe abuse.  Waterstones being a recent offender - when they went ahead and removed the apostrophe from their name some years ago - it's now grammatically incorrect.

This generally creeps in when someone makes a noun plural and can be seen tens or hundreds of times on shop signs everyday you walk around your typical town.

I'm not sure that grocers apostrophe's really belong in a spelling thread - and Waterstone(')s was factually incorrect for long enough to just regard it as a brand name.

The sign advertising "SHED'S GATE'S FENCE'S" opposite the one indicating that you're entering "KINGS HEATH" was probably peak apostrofail.  Unfortunately someone's fixed it by sticking little white pieces of paper over the apostrophes.

(King[']s Heath lost its apostrophe as a result of BCC budget cuts in 2009, or something.)

When Whizzer grew up, his name didn't seem so much fun anymore, so he changed it to Fishe. Goodness knows why he chose Fishe, but he did. Still the love-hate relationship with Chips though.
