Another vision of life on Mars is in the opening scenes of "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch"
I must read that again, it's a great book

Hm there's that damn dust too. It'd even get inside a Rohloff.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I'm not overlooking the possibility that we all originate from Mars and migrated here a few aeons ago because Mars was going tits up.
Better the devil you know. I wouldn't mind visiting Mars, but I'd want to be able to get back if I wanted to.

I'd go.

Solve my boredom problem.

But Mrs P would have to find someone else to mow the lawn. So she might not be too happy.

What on Earth would you do on Mars?

Either go insane - but given the circumstances it would be socially acceptable to do so.

Or, more likely, die horribly but interestingly when some leak I never got round to fixing blows out.

Go mad or die! :o

If that was my idea of an option, I'd like to think that I'd see my doctor about my depression and hope it can get better!

I think I'd rather be a bit bored than dead or insane. Boredom can be cured.

Prison colony of the future...

...It's not a calling - it's a life sentence...

...We aren't ready as a species for this, no where near.

Why not? It worked with Australia...

In a couple of hundred years, the Martians are going to blitz most sports, given that precedent.

At closest approach, that would be good for about 580,000 points.

Where would you put the controls?

The first human footprints on Mars should not be made with spandals.

I'm saying it's no place to raise your kids, and it's cold as hell.

Do you know?  There's times when I think I'd go.
Bored - depressed.  I'd go.

I'd need some sort of life exit stuff though. For when the time's up for comfort.  Happy pills and whiskey or something.

If you're going to die alone, you may as well do it on Mars.

Sorry.  Tuesdays are my morbid evenings.  ;)

I was just planning on taking a stroll and unscrewing my helmet when the time came. But your way is a bit neater.

But your way is a bit neater.

Only way to drink whiskey on Mars.  Neat.

Which reminds me.
The first time I met my FiL (to be), he was pouring me a scotch.
"Do you drink it neat?" he enquired.
"Usually." I responded.  "Although sometimes I have the tail of my shirt hanging out"

boom tish.
