I've heard rumours that Quickstep are interested in signing Cav too as Boonean might be heading elsewhere...

Like football, cycling does attract its fair share of pillocks and meatheads; it's a great leveller in intellectual terms.  For every "professeur" like Fignon, you get lots of simpler folk like Boonen and Ullrich who can't keep out of trouble off the bike. 

And Darkness and Decay and the Coronavirus held illimitable dominion over all.

I did admire Boonen for his wonderfully skilful riding, and he seems to ride intelligently, knowing when to make the effort, and when to ease off.  I thought he'd be a winner for years to come, and now the pillock (there are other words, but I'll stick with that one for now) has blown it.
