I sound like a small Ford vehicle - but I like the album title.

Album Name: Beauty & Contact Lenses, are in the eye of the beholder.

I couldn't do the cover because the photo is rights reserved... sounds like some kind of prog- or post-rock thang.

Definitely prog-rock inna Tales Of Topographic Oceans stylee with an album name like that. There is precedent for prog-ish bands with silly names (eg. Porcupine Tree) but Parnassus on Wheels is a good 'un.

In fact, as an addendum to The Game, might I suggest that posters suggest a suitable *genre* for 'their' album (eg. the first couple in the thread would be good for,  say,  ambient music) as well?

Ideally, all participants should describe the genre of music contained on their album.

Mine is obvious prog rock, halfway between a 4AD band and Einstürzende Neubauten.
Never tell me the odds.

Google psp501ev (it's the last shareware version of Paint Shop Pro).  You can use it for 60 days and <cough> longer than that if you <cough> are happy to remove a couple of Registry keys occasionally.  It is a 12 year old piece of software.
Never tell me the odds.

I'd recommend The GIMP, although be warned that it can have quite a steep learning curve - not as bad as PhotoShop, but still takes a while to get the hang of.

For Mac users, you've got GIMP, as above, but there's also "Seashore", which is basically a simplified GIMP (it's derived from the same code base)

GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program
Seashore

Both GIMP and Seashore are free.

Syndone.

three caraway seeds and a producer's heart

I only had 1 minute, someone else can spend the other 4 putting it together.

Surprisingly, it works ...

Wonder if I should work on commission :)
That's so good! Obviously it's semi acoustic fey post- punk experimental sounds by a ridiculously young and attractive girl who refuses to use her name or photo as it's all about The Work. Tracks include the title track, 3 caraway seeds, and her epic ode to winter- under the ice I rest. There are no capital letters or punctuation marks in the sleeve notes.

What a great game.

They do epic rock which is sub-Coldplay or U2.  But the last track is ten minutes of unlistenable noise, to prove that they don't want to be the next U2 or Coldplay, and they're in it for the music, man.

(I couldn't be arsed to pick a better font)

I'm trying to work out in my head what a "Cocteau Twins meets Neubauten" album might sound like.
And failing :)

I've just taken a bunch of painkillers for my back, so may well have a crack at a couple of covers later on when the amitriptyline has kicked in :)

EDIT: Actually, I'm now thinking in terms of Liz Frazer-esque vocals over a sonic backdrop of running chainsaws, white noise and sounds reminiscent of an explosion in a boiler factory ...

Non-mainstream (obviously) whiny, self-pitying emo crap much beloved of hipper-than-thou, skinny jean-wearing morons who think that riding fixed with no brakes is a cool thing to do.

All-girl band whose influences include Nirvana and Republica.  Popular among ladies who shave their heads and wear dungarees.  Not likely to chart in the near future but have a great moshpit at their gigs.
Never tell me the odds.

It is, and therein lies the problem ... I've got a couple more lined up, but really, really, really need to get on with transferring the Velovision forum databases over to the new hosting site and squash a few bugs that have appeared in the admin code.

Maybe we should start our own Flickr gallery for these  8)

Is this how bands actually design their albums?  It should be!

It's how I'm going to do my current one :)
Already got the name sorted ("Digital Supply Chain" - see upthread) just now have to sort out a suitable image and some words. Hopefully, they'll match the sound of the stuff that I've performed but if not it's a perfect excuse to do something a bit different.

Damnation - those forums aren't transferring themselves ....  ;D

Heartfelt, downbeat blues-y rock. Obviously the two ladies at the front play the guitars and sing, and they have a few rent-a-goons on bass and drums and occasional violin.

Going by the Smoke Fairies track on this month's Classic Rock covermount CD, I'd say they're more psychedelic folk/blues.

You might want to read the OP for the thread...  ;)
