Audax Cymru Jerseys.
« on: 18 January, 2011, 12:49:21 pm »
It's been a while since Dave Lewis produced the current Audax Cymru kit, and Mal Volio and I have been talking about producing a new batch for a while.  Inspired by U.N.Dulates excellent Mille Cymru jerseys, we've come up with a new design that incorporates U.N.D's dragon and flag logo in a fiery welsh-flag colourscheme.

These will be available soon, in time for PBP qualifiers.

The design is still to be finally tweaked and we welcome feedback.  In particular, let me know if there is a desire on anyones part for a PBP specific version, maybe with a strapline "Paris Brest Paris Dau Mil Un Deg Un" or similar.

Can I have expressions of interest initially please, so that I can estimate the final pricing.  Small numbers will cost 45 euros each, less if we get a large number.  I would guess they will be approximately £35 posted at this stage.

If someone on the Audax Yahoo group would be kind enough to point people at this message too, I would be grateful.

Oh my, I definitely want one of them. I'd be interested in a PBP version too, subject to qualifying, of course.

Looks good.  As an ex-pat Welshman i'd certainly take one.  What's the 'qualifying' criteria??

Please keep the rules for distribution.

Qualifying wearers are those that meet one or both of the following

1. Any audax rider born or living in Wales.
2. Any audax rider who has completed an audax starting in Wales.

As the owner of a MC1K jersey, I shan't worry about rule 2 excluding me  :smug: ;)

Nice work there.

Yes' I'll buy one when they're available.

Edit: Personally, I'd rather a generic one than a PBP specific one.

Edit 2: I've changed my mind again. A PBP in Welsh would be great.

So some previous incarnations of the Brevet Cymru (starting at Aust Severn View Services) would not qualify  ;) ;)??

Being a lover of most things Welsh I'd be very interested - don't qualify yet unfortunately but I'm planning on at least one of this year's audaxes from Coryton, Rosgoch or Gladestry. I suppose if the jerseys become available earlier I could always do a Welsh DIY Perm?

HK and I will go for two or three between us, qualifying by starting brevets in Wales.

I'd be interested in a replacement for my old Audax Cymru jersey, particularly if it was PBP specific

As around half of my rides have started in Wales, I should qualify under rule 2 despite living the wrong side of the Severn. So put me down for one.

Looks super spiffing. I rode home from Wales last week (DIYs count, right?) but I've just decided to buy some new Willesden jerseys for the summer.

I'd take 2, I think, and I'd *love* a PBP version.  I might even get an extra one for swopsies.

I think the Welsh lay claim to pretty much anything west of a line with Birmingham.

Will do.  I have emailed Dave to remind myself what the criteria were but I think I have an ancient address for him.  I'll make this clear when the firm orders are invited.  I suggest that MC1K finishers are entitled too!

I bought a Ginsters pasty in Chepstow Tesco on the last Seven Across. I think that was in Wales cos I couldn't read a lot of the signs in there.

I'd be up for one as well - though I'm (sadly) not fussed about the PBP addition, as it's not my year .... this time!
Diolch yn fawr / Many thanks - Tewdric -  for being prepared to do the work for these shirts.

Just to add - opens door to enter pendant's corner - if 2011 is going on the jersey in words, then it should read

either  'PBP dwy fil un deg ac un'  or  'PBP dwy fil unarddeg'

'mil' - when masculine - means 'animal' (that's how 'milfeddyg' - literally 'animal-doctor' - means vet)
So, 'dau fil' means '2 animals'!

'mil' - when feminine - means 1,000, which means that 'dau' has to change to 'dwy' (its feminine form) when it procedes 'mil', and the m in 'mil' has to mutate to an f, because dau/dwy causes a soft mutation on the word following it.

Goes though door to exit pedant's corner
Pob bendith,

Robert
