He had virtual cake. He was thinking about it; that's a lot of weight on his mind.

It seems my pride wasn't the only casualty of the ride. I only noticed today as I passed my flag in MFWHTBAB's hallway, that Skelly is minus an arm.

So, do I replace wholesale with one of his remaining 8 brothers, or do a transplant?  We haven't checked yet whether the limb in question is still in the car boot, if it is, I might be able to rearticulate it.

Or perhaps he needs a teeny weeny robot/terminator arm replacement....
If I had a baby elephant, it could help me wash the car. If I had a car.

I'd say save your dosh til you've worn 'em out, then think about it.  And anyway, if you're able for pootling along at that speed, how come I still had cake to carry and you had none!?!?!

Sorry, my plan was to try and eat it all so then nobody would have to carry it, little did I know you'd made enough for the whole forum. And their families. And pets.

Ah, I see where you're coming from.

With a spork at the end?

I've been checking my route on OSM.

After my second puncture, Mr. Charly and Slowcoach followed a slightly different route towards Scotch Corner and I noticed a road that was not marked on the map.

It is now. The non-avian red kite marks the spot.

Hello, everyone.  I've put a ride report on the Ride Reports board.

I don't really understand why that road isn't on the map - I thought all of North Yorkshire was just about covered - I'll have to be more observant in future; there may be more roads to add.

To be honest - it hadn't occurred to me that this wasn't the obvious way to Great Langton from Yafforth. It's the standard route I've ridden since a child from Northallerton, and I just automatically thought - "Great Langton - turn left here" when we got to the junction. It's shorter (marginally) and quieter than the main road. It's funny the way your mental map works and you get these standard routes built in your head. It's a few years since I turned off there, I suspect, but to me, it was the obvious way to go. It's very odd returning to ride on roads that you haven't been on for years, but I knew that route quite well. The River Swale - just off on the left, was the destination for my first "big ride" (a family expedition - the weekend after my trainer wheels came off, when I was about 4). I was very proud of myself at the time.

I have found Skelly's arm in the car, but the proximal humerus ball joint is sheared off, so it'll have to be a prothesis. Now, does anyone have a very tiny scrap of thin titanium...?
