+1.
2-3 hours ride from home for me, depending on which compass-point these "10 miles from Stafford" are oriented towards.
On the "yes yes OH GOD YES" side of interested.

It is simpler than it looks.

Could do a southern one a few weeks before as an extra/alternative.

I could ride to Stone:even I think that's a double-doddle ;D
The canal is flat enough for Marj to ride too & Barlaston Downs is literally just down the road with a mixture of easy trail riding & slightly-more-challenging techy stuff.

Sounds fab to me and the weekend is probably clear, unless I've spent way too much time cycling in France in August to merit a pass from SWMBO.

Oooo, Gordy.  That sounds marvellous.

Sits pondering whether we could do a Random Tandem to Gordy's or not...

Apologies...I've been meaning to organise a 2011 YACF camping trip in Andover again but life and PBP qualification has got in the way.

Thanks to Gordy for stepping in.  With PBP, and holidays immediately after, I really don't have time to organise it this year.

Will be looking at interest at this thread though.

Stone isn't southern, it's north of the Trent.  Well, some of it is.

Depending on what Mrs. Wow wanted to do, I could turn this into a late summer week's tour from home.

250km from here.

Possibility of a train there and a ride back on Sunday.

If its only 250km from Lee - it's definitely southern  ::-) Or are you one of these people that thinks the north starts at Watford Gap  ;)

I like Gordy's offer.  It's further north than previous gatherings, so would hopefully be easier for our northern chums.
3rd & 4th of Sept is also a good date for me.

I like Gordy's plan - plus 3 September is my birthday

Preferably the latter, but the occasional northern dig is always rewarding...

Anyway, if it's Gordy's, I should be OK for the first weekend in September. The family will be returning from Hungary on the Sunday, so I'll need to head off early.

I love the idea of camping and tandem-ing in Stone. And don't worry, Gordy - just give us some flat-ish grass and a pub and we'll be fine.
