And I still have grass in my rear mech.

You have a rear mech?  :o

Oddly enough the first thing I thought when Deano got to my house "you've brought some gears then"
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

And a front mech.

I do tend to forget to use them, though.

And then we found out why he brought that bike....

If Deano needed gears I hope, for the benfit of others, there was a funicular railway or similar.

It wasn't, and bear in mind who is saying this, particularly lumpy.  Not actually flat an many points, but not really lumpy.  It was awfully bumpy though.

I don't think CL is referring to the gears so much as the tractor-width tyres ;D

(NSTN - avert your eyes!)

The emergency contingency bridge, for when the original nice bridge wasn't available

Cheap as chips

Contrary to those photos, we did ride the vast majority of the route.  Shame Dinsdale Bridge was closed, there's nowt about in on t'interwebs.

How good were those chips?

But I can't take photographs with my phone whilst I'm riding.  Especially not through fords and on interesting surfaces and when ducking under trees.  Or when going rather-more-than-cubspeed.  So I only took photographs when we stopped :)

We'll have to go back when it's open then!  Although I thought contingency bridge was really rather pleasant.

Remarkably good.  And all the better for being illicit (and unexpected!) chips for favoured customers who merit 'special treatment' and are allowed chips even when the pub's not serving food.

More action shots for next time, then.  I wish I'd caught the two of you going through the ford.

That was the best bit! Unexpected chips, an unexpected ford, and an unadvertised bridge.  I wonder how many surprises we'll have next time.

I seem to remember that we said that this was unlikely this week?

I'm not able to come out to play tonight or tomorrow - and apart from anything else appear to have utterly borked my shoulder/neck somehow on Friday night so am a bit dubious about non-utility miles for a few days as it doesn't seem to be improving much :(

But I should be OK for next week AFAIK.

Yeah, we spoke last week and Deano is at the dentist tomorrow, Mrs T is at the hospital today (and will be dazed and confused tonight so I will need to babysit her) so looks like none this week, normal service to resume next week. :)

Next week Wed/Thurs/Fri *as far as I know) are all do-able-ish.

The week after, can I possibly make a request for Tuesday?  It would be remarkably convenient.

That Tuesday would be fine for me, I think.

Next week, any night. How about Wednesday?

I had a wee ride down just now - Dinsdale Bridge is open.  Dunno why it was closed last week, there's no sign of any work having been done.  Maybes it was an accident.

That'd be nice - I could join you then (waits for sound of feet rushing in opposite direction ;) )

Now that SWMBO is working in Germany for the next 6 months I should have a bit more quality bike time.
