So, the French do give the impression of being clean, the UK comes out pretty poorly (with a chunk of old Europe) and eastern Europe is pretty bad. Though in the case of some nations the low number of riders in the TdF mean that the results may not be particularly representative.

It's worth noting how some individual scores can skew the results: for example, on FdJ, one rider scores almost half the team's total points. And on RadioShack, three riders contribute by far the bulk of the team's points total while Rast and Horner get 0.

L'Equipe has done the job: L’Equipe Calculates Index Of Suspicion For Teams And Nations | Cyclingnews.com

No Poles in that list, but last year, two Polish brothers came 1-2 in the cyclocross junior world championships, the first time anyone from Poland had won anything in cx. After the event they both tested positive for EPO and were disqualified. The younger one, who had already been offered place on a Belgian team, lost that place and attempted suicide.  :(

There's a culture of institutionalised doping left over from Communist days (East Germany being the most notorious) and a lot of general cheating throughout society. When Poland was awarded the Euro 2012 by UEFA, they were in the midst of a match-fixing scandal! And the earnings of a Belgian cyclocrosser look enormous from the Pov of a small town in depressed western Poland, which increases the temptation to take even stupid risks.

Or it could be that they're not yet sophisticated enough to cheat without arousing suspicion...
The unwilling rider and the one who leaves each control in turn without reluctance, with no desire to come back, obviously cannot be making the same journey, even though their brevets are identical.

Yes, but this thread does have the sensible title to attract the punters.

Edit:
And some text to go with the link, value distinctly added in 90 seconds. The race to just post links is over there (and this would be disqualified as a non-conforming link - it has to be from the guardian, preferably one of their opinion pieces)

Cryptic titles laden with implications are also much more at home in POBI, not in the sensible bits of YACF.

Sometimes  you are such a tit, matt.

Jeez louise - don't get your knickers in a twist.

I was merely observing that cryptic titles are a bit of a pain, and are one of the (many) crap things about POBI. Don't take it personally - not everything is about you!

Anyway, YACF has voted, clearly this thread is more popular than yours.

Of course these are just results from last year.

...which is why it seems odd that Contador scores as low as 5, given the whole meatgate affair.

The list was made before last year's Tour as a guide for who the testers should target during it.
