To be fair, the Gavia pass was in a blizzard but above zero. The TOC was at -2 and far more snow with ice on the road making conditions extremely dangerous. Team Sky rode to the top of the first pass and had their bikes frozen up - brakes frozen open and gear mechs solid.

To not race was the right decision.

Oh bugger.  I'd better start looking for my TV remote.
I thought I'd got until July to find it.

Damn!  Sitting on the sofa with my Campag trade team hat, baguette and 'Go Dowsett' flag only to find Kevin Costner disguised as a fish! ???

Back on duty tonight.

That was an epic finish - real edge of the seat stuff. Great work by Team Sky.

I thought that the Sky lead-out machine went too early, but was glad to find I was wrong!

Even though the live video won't be broadcast for quite a while yet, you can follow what's happening in text form via Cycling New.

There are also various snippets of video coverage from the two previous stages (sort of) listed here.

...and of course you can get live video over the Internet on the Tour of California's own webpages here
(I think the live video start today at 21:50, but I may be wrong).

That was an impressive finish by Chris Horner, gaining 1:15 over Andy Schleck in second place, and doing it as the second oldest rider in the entire race! (Jens Voigt is the oldest rider).

Watching mountain finishes always leaves me feeling knackered, but for a professional cyclist, it must be so disheartening, and downright intimidating when a rider can just leave you behind with such apparent ease.

I loved the way the commentators said Horner deserved it as Levi Leipheimer was a wheel sucker :)
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Chris Horner seemed to do a pretty good time trial (for him), and is hanging onto his lead OK, with a reasonable amount of time still.

Dave Zabriskie seems to have done an absolute howler around the course though, resulting in a new record time!

Ned Boulting is great but the other guy in the studio is so annoying I have to turn it off.
As if his voice wasn't bad enough he coughs his way through the whole show.

Even more annoying than that are the constant ad breaks, on every one you miss a lot of the action at the speeds these guys ride at especially on the fast descents, great roads though and you get to see bits of CA you would,nt normally.

The add breaks are worse for the TdF. 5 minutes cycling then 5 minutes of adds rinse and repeat.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Today's stage was very good. The fans were excellent. Europe may have the Devil, but California has The Grim Reaper, two sumo wrestlers, the Pope dispensing holy water, a six-foot chicken and a six-foot parrot and a fried egg.

I'm always amazed by the speeds that professional cyclists can do in these races, on mountain stages.  Even with a lot of this stage being some pretty steep hills, they averaged a smidgen under 20mph.

Chris Horner is doing pretty well for the oldest man still in the race.  It's looking pretty much like he'll be taking the podium tomorrow, unless something disastrous happens.
Actually, it is rocket science.

You forgot the attention seeker who runs up the road with the large flag and american football helmet (?) adorned with a variety of horns, but he does make an appearance at the Tour too.   Personally I find them all a pain in the whatsit!
