A little accident in China
« on: 06 June, 2011, 03:50:12 pm »
Emily, a friend and former PhD student/Postdoc in the lab is part waythrough her world tour. She has managed to safely navigate the antipodes but was run into by a motorbike in China (head on, motor bike came roudn the corner on the wrong side of the road.)

She was fine but her bike took a bit of a knock. Click the 'previous' link to follow the story to a repair that would even make McNasty proud.

Rats - sorry about that.

first pics - a rather bent frame - crumpled top and down tube. Just about rideable with care

Then a bunch of rural chinese with a welder and varius tools

And finally a straighter bike with two new steel sleeves over where the crumple was.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, you have been somewhat shortchanged..

I'd send the pics to Orange. Something positive might come out of it, you never know.

Given that this is a long way into rural china, wise is getting something in there that will get her to the next major city where she can replace the frame.

Good idea - just emailed their warranties department with a 'just for your info, take a look at these pics of one of your bikes.'
