'Course you can still come, Greg.  You could just meet us at the seekrit garage later on, or meet us at Richmond station or something.

Oh goody!

By the way, is there going to be a wedding civil partnership formal shacking up ceremony?  As you can see, I have the perfect hat!

There is not going to be a marriage lite ceremony, no.  My views on those probably belong in the Politics section.

However, your hat will be welcome at the post-ride barbecue.  I may even wear one of my own. :D

Congratulations. It's brought a tear to my eye.

Does this thread set a record for the greatest number of posts in the shortest time?

Probably not a pig, but I want a couple of chickens.  :D

Shame about London's urban fox population though.
Congratulations!
I don't think I will come unless some forummer supplies a magic carpet.

Mrs. Wow and I will be returning from Swaledale on 16th and our train arrives in King's Cross soon after midday. We will have been camping and will almost certainly be knackered.

Do we have a Spanker's Hill ETA?

How's 6:30pm for people?  Too early?

That's too early for me, I think!

*thunks*

Although I could pop my bike on the overground to Richmond.  That would work.  Could we say 7 to be on the safe side?

We'll make a decision on the day, my dear C, if that's OK. I suspect that we may well be basket cases after a few nights in a tent in Yorkshire, although I suppose there's nothing to stop us going early to Richmond park and having a long kip! ;D

I want to rent one of the garages in our block of flats, but the council inform me that you have to prove ownership of a vehicle (& bikes don't count).  :(

Yes there is a cake religion.  It revolves around cake and scones and some biscuits.  You know the making of the first cake stories. If you note all catholic religious events revolve around cake.  Hence cake is the real reason for the other stories that go with it.

Oh and the jaffa cake discussion still rages on but all are in agreement that those horrible red or green fillings were vile.

Since when was a bike not a vehicle?

Its so the garages are used for cars and not storage.  Oh that also doesn't include motorbike just cars.

Hey a certain London council won't even let the empty garages ::-)

We have that problem in Wandsworth.  It embarrassed the Officers at a meeting a couple of months back...

Re garages: in our case it *does* include motorbikes.  The thing is that at least some people who do have a garage & presumably *had* a car at some point now use their garage for storage (because I've seen the doors open & there's no damn room for a car in there!).

I can't actually see why car-usage should be prioritised over any other usage; surely if you're eligible in the sense of living in the block, & you wait on the waiting list, then you're just as entitled to use it?  (My guess is that they want to minimise street parking, but street parking, which is by permit only, isn't under pressure in our area anyway.)

I can't chase this now as I'm out of the country for most of the next 12 months, but when I come back I shall start writing letters.  Clarion, did embarrassing the Officers actually do any good?

Can a nearby car-owning trusted friend rent it on your behalf?

It hasn't changed anything yet, because it's a different department.  These things take time, but it will certainly be on the agenda when we meet again.

The obvious solution is to buy a very cheap car or motorbike, rent the garage, then sell the motorised thingy, quite possibly at a small profit.
