spinterbike! record attempt

Splinterbike, the all wooden bike is lined up for it's world record speed atempt (for a bike made entirely out of wood)

this bike is made entirely out of wood and glue, no ball bearings, no rubber tyres, no chain.

In a fantastic effort to raise money for Shelterbox, the record speed attempt and first full speed run of this machine will be made at Scunthorpe track between 12:00 - 16:00 on Thursday 18th August 2011.

If you are in the area, call in and cheer the intrepid pilot on! (and possibly help to pick up the pieces afterwards)

That is just such a brilliant project.  I love the way the designer, Michael Thompson has been able to build this thing entirely out of wood, even finding a way to dispense with a chain.
