i'm always intrigued by the fact that in Blackheath (south London) where I live, there is one car that appears to be permanently parked on the double yellow, on a corner, outside a specific shop yet, despite the fact that the local wardens seem to find you every time you park with one pair of wheels slightly the wrong side of the dotted line marking the border between residents' and businesses' parking places, never seems to be ticketed.

I presume the owner has a special financial arrangement in place with the wardens.

Fire engine can't reach fire due to parked cars. Worth noting that the cars were not actually parked in an illegal place. Ironically, the fire started in a car.

given that it would occupy 4 spaces wherever it stopped, unless there were dedicated van spaces it is actually considerately parked, avoiding blocking adjacent spaces and through ways. If you've ever had to pilot a van like that in a standard parking area, you would realise that quite quickly.

Poor, thoughtless and illegal parking isn't a new issue in Bristol, but it is something that appears to blight certain areas of the city more than others.

So much so that a Facebook group has been setup by residents of Bishopston and St Andrews to capture, and probably shame, motorists leaving their vehicles in restricting and often dangerous situations.
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/facebook-group-captures-worst-parking-2138507

Though it won't shame them if, like the Post, you blank out their number plates.

Cycling home along my road today what I saw coming in the other direction was a double buggy.
'cos with cars parked nose to tail along both pavements the pavement was too narrow even if there's been a gap big enow to get onto the pavement.
ho hum.
I'm sure some of the cars are used so little it would be better for the owner to merely hire a car on the odd occasion (like what I do)

Oh dear, someone bought a Brokeback wagon too big for the country.

Some clod just round the corner from Larrington Towers has one of them.  And a Dodge camper van.  And a really shit 90s Mustang.  All with matching black and white paint jobs

I've been reminded, again, that cars are getting ever more bloated.
A 1950s double garage is now merely a roomier than usual single garage.

I was pleased to emerge from my driveway this morning to gaze upon the corner that will one-day-have-double-yellow-lines to see a van blocking the junction and preventing the green waste lorry from getting up the street.

Pleased because it was emblazoned with the words

Surrey Highways

Super.

They've actually started ticketing the cars at the bottom of the road now. It makes me feel warm inside to see those little fluttery penalty notices.

Not strictly parking, but obstructing a cycle path by non-cycle related activities..

What are they actually doing? Looks like it might be a feeding the homeless thing – or maybe it's a feeding station for runners? Either way, they don't actually seem to be obstructing the cyclepath as much as eg expanding dog leads.

This one drove onto the path running alongside the road and parked up right in front of me. The path in question is a mandatory cycles only path (blue circular sign with only a picture of a bike on it, no pedestrians, etc.) running along the South side of Field Lane in York adjacent to the East Campus of the University of York.

I saw something earlier that I haven't seen for a very long time - a traffic warden (or whatever they're called now). It was wonderful watching her ticket many, many twattish SUVs parked on the pavement, double yellows etc... I don't know why they don't come down my street more often - they could easily be employee of the month every month. I've often thought about becoming a traffic warden, I'm not sure the pay is that great, but I would get a hell of a lot of job satisfaction!
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

The motto seems to be "just block everything", the roads, the roundabouts, and even the cycle paths.
