Last night I made chicken burgers. Butterflied a chicken booby, egged, seasoned floured (repeat x2) and then shallow fried in sunflower/butter. Stuck in a big floury bap and served with sweet potato wedges. Oh yes.

Maybe the chicken breasts were a bit too big though...

Not so much dinner, which was sea bream and steamed veg - mmm.  It was what I followed it with.
Take one small bag of twiglets.  Empty onto plate.  Liberally adorn with soft white Welsh Goat's cheese.  Top with one pickled egg.
Serve with glass of Old Speckled Hen.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Its M&S dinner for two with wine for £10 night tonight.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Salmon and veg, microwaved to perfection.
'Stewed1' apples, possibly with ice cream or custard.

1) Microwaved mashed Bramleys, with added raisins, sugar and water.

Tonight (well late afternoon) will be the first BBQ of the year. I have had 1kg of lamb leg cubes marinating in red wine olive oil and herbs since Saturday lunchtime. Will be stuck on skewers and then onto the BBQ. Will be severed with shredded cabbage and tzatzikin in a flat bread. Have some wild garlic sausages and mergezze sausages and a few burgers for those who don't like lamb.
Now I have to decide on a salad. Might just go for a traditional Greek village salad.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Roast duck with all the trimmings. Very nice. Not in my comfort zone to cook but it came out fine.

Last night I wandered into the hotel bar and found that the menu was VERY expensive (£15 for a burger? You are having a laugh!)

So I wandered further, down the road and across to London Road, whereupon I was presented with a multitude of choices.  There was, in no particular order, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, Indian, Turkish, Fish'n'Chips and Pizza.

I settled on Hong Kong Chinese, a lovely dish called "Four Delicacies", which consisted of a HUGE amount of fried rice, a fried egg, a whole chicken breast (poached), similar amounts of Char Sui and the same amount again of honey roast pork. Some token greens rounded out the meal.  All this for £9.  I couldn't finish it, there was that much (and I realised that I REALLY REALLY need to pack a spork for when on business trips, using chopsticks is not my strong point!).  Could have done with some sauce, too.
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

tonight is Paleo Prawn Ceasar BLT night :)

this consists of:
placing watercress, spinach and rocket, chopped cherry tomatoes, chopped spring onions in a bowl
fry off pancetta/streaky bacon until crispy, set aside to cool
in the fat remaining in the pan, quickly brown off finely chopped garlic, then throw in a packet of shelled king prawns
once cooked through set aside with the bacon,
turn the heat off under the pan, and add a tablespoon of wholegrain mustard and 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise and a tablespoon of lemon juice. stir well to make a dressing.
Chop up an avocado, and place, with the bacon and prawns over your salad, then top with the dressing (still warm) from the pan.
shave some parmesan over it, and sprinkle with black pepper (and maybe salt if the bacon's not enough for you)

Devour. :D

takes about 10mins with some practice, but eating it only takes seconds sadly. It's surprisingly filling, and very tasty.

Partner's brother stayed with us and had supper last night.
I roasted a chicken and microwaved some vegetables; I am a somewhat disabled and very lazy cook.
This was followed by Sainsbury's Basics rice pudding and some Chocolate Orange left over from Christmas.

Guest then remarked he seldom had roast dinners. That's a shame.

I've made the East African Spiced Lentil from this page http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/jan/11/the-10-best-lentil-recipes. Not for tonight, but tomorrow. Tastes pretty bloody nice though, looking forward to it :P
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Grilled lamb steaks, cauli, cheese sauce, carrots and peas, Jersey Royals. And home-made mint jelly as condiment. Oh and some local asparagus to start.

Last night I finished of my chickpea stew. This is my favourite easy and cheap recipe.

For four people or two hungry people (they will be stuffed):

Finely chop one large onion and saute it in a medium sized pan with olive oil.
after a few minutes chuck in a chopped or crushed clove of garlic
Another couple of minutes then add as much chorizo as you fancy either diced or sliced doesn't matter
Fry for a couple of minutes until the chorizo starts to run and colour the onions nicely.
Dice one red pepper and add that give it a good stir
Add a 400g can of chickpeas rinsed
Add a 400g can of chopped tomatoes
Add enough water to cover the chickpeas
One teaspoon of cumin and one of coriander
One teaspoon of chilli powder or more to taste
One teaspoon of hot paprika
Simmer for half an hour and let it thicken a bit.

East with crusty bread and a nice rioja.
Its even better reheated after 24 hours.

The one I made this week I used Lidl chickpeas and chopped tomatoes with herbs and chilli, worked well I still added extra chilli.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

What to do with a reasonable (as in unreasonable for me to finish off) number of leftover cheese scones from having over-estimated the appetites of the Moors And Wolds-ers yesterday?

Hmmm.

Veggie sausage casserole and pretend they are dumplings!  Bloody lovely :D

Something crunchy I think as Master Pcolbeck is having top and bottom braces fitted tomorrow so will be on soft foods till they bed in a bit.

Proper jacket spuds (done slowly in the oven - om nom nom) with cheese and sweetcorn and salad and, for Cubs, tuna mixed with mayo and tartare sauce.  Followed by a tin of mandarin slices with rhubarb yoghurt.

Tonight will be meatballs in tomato and red pepper sauce, with swede/carrot/potato mash, and some of the giant chard from the garden.
