LONDON BY BIKE: BARCLAYS SEARCH FOR THE CAPITAL’S MOST ICONIC SNAPS FROM THE SADDLE

It’s time to put on your brakes and start snapping. Barclays has teamed up with renowned street photographer Nick Turpin to find camera keen cyclists who can capture the adventure, inspiration and beauty of cycling in London.

Whether it’s a two wheel take on the iconic, imposing London landmarks or those hidden gems to be found in the backstreets of the East End, Barclays ‘London by Bike’ campaign is your chance to capture images celebrating cycling on London.

A photographic competition with a difference, winning shots from amateur snappers and professional photographers will be seen by thousands when transformed into the perfect picture postcard and displayed in all Barclays branches across London and the South East.

The two top snappers will also receive a deluxe London cycling weekend prize package including £1,500 of cycling equipment, sumptuous 5* hotel stay and a visit to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London plus their iconic shots will be displayed for fellow Londoners to see in a special exhibition at a London gallery this summer.

The competition will be judged by an expert panel, including innovative photographer Nick Turpin who spearheaded the street photography movement in the UK. Creating a series of exclusive inspirational shots available to view on the “Barclays Bikes” Facebook page, Nick Turpin said: “I think cycling opens up the city in such a beautiful way, you get to see little pockets of undiscovered London. Barclays ‘London by Bike’ is all about finding a picture that is more than a shot of a bike on the street that will be immortalised as postcards available across London. Entrants should use their camera to really elevate everyday cycling in London into something special.”

Ashok Vaswani, CEO Barclays UK Retail and Business Banking, said: “As official sponsors of Barclays Cycle Hire and Barclays Cycle Superhighways we are committed to improving how people get around London. With London fast becoming a cycling city, the ‘London by Bike’ photography competition is the perfect way to celebrate our continued support for cycling in the capital.”

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or simply a cycling enthusiast with an eye for a good shot, anyone can enter. As long as your image reflects cycling in London, whether its commuters on the journey to work or capturing London’s landmarks through the spokes of a wheel, you can enter easily by visiting the “Barclays Bikes” Facebook page. Make sure you select whether you are entering the professional or amateur photography category to be in with the best chance of winning.
