I reckon Annie & Nutkin should be cannonised.

Isn't that what they do to people in a circus? :P

Top piccies RZ, even the ones of me looking less than at my best  ;)

Edit - that signpost (Dunwich 7) always seems to provoke a chorus of "Halleluja!" in my head - offset nicely by your very attractive red bike!

Chain's a bit slack though.  Actually, it did OK - it's managed 141 miles since its last retensioning, which is a record.  The ENO hub suffers from axle creep (axle twist, in this case) which seems to be directly related to the number of steep hills climbed.

I've uploaded rather a lot of photos, so I'll post some in installments:

I arrived early in the park, but Charlotte and Liz were already there. During the obtaining and consumption of nooooodles and cider, other forum Dun Runners turned up.

I set off quite fast  - trying to stick in the tandem's slipstream, but when we started to overtake groups I felt safer on my own and wanted to push on faster while I was all 'nooooodled up', but found I was struggling to stick with the fast groups I had caught after Dunmow.

Got in ot the feed stop before 01:00 to find some forumites already there.

I rode a slower second half. 79" gear on the fixie was good but with a pack on my back, I was in pain up hills. Rode several sections with Pluck, Jurek etc. and got to the beach around 5.30 - a few minutes before Roger.

Annie & Nutkin's picnic was a welcome sight, as were blankets. Once off the bike the cold rapidly took hold. So most of the early photos I took were shaky.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

I found that lying in the sun was warmer than wrapping up in blankets in the shade, and after a nap, I found more YACFers had arrived.

I couldn't be bothered to get up, but got some interesting shots

Andy demonstrates the Brommie's sunglasses holder to a rather bored Nutkin & Sgt. Pluck.

And when Nutty examines it, Andy prepares for a collapse/fold/amputation incident.

I like the photo's, and I'm even more jealous of you all now!

I am seriously impressed by Annie's "picnic".  I'd imagined a moderate spread of food, a four pack of beer etc, not that vast amount of food, drink, and even a table to put it all on.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Ahh... like that

But still not small enough for the car

That's all folks.

I rode back to Stowmarket, but was held up with a p*nct*r* when I was in a pub  ::-) and arrived at the level crossin to see my train leaving the station  >:(

Looks like brilliant fun!  I was tucked up warm in a tent in a field in Oxfordshire with the lovely Butterfly.  I know which I prefer, but I think a Dun Run may tempt us one year... ;)
Getting there...

Here, third picture down
Is Annie really big?
Or is Regulator really small?
Or is it some strange parallax inversion due to having stayed up and cycled all night?

It's a special feature on my camera - selective zoom.

Liz and I snapped a few on the road...

The last-orders brew stop

Trundling along in the dark

Crazy late-night grins

Anyone know who these guys are?

Gerald: He's like the Duracell bunny!

Stoker's Lament

Riders at the gates of dawn...

Dunrunnin' - the weary and the sore schlep to the beach for a well-earned lie down

Hannibal at the beach.  It's not the size of bike in the ride, it's the size of ride in the bike.

It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Another of the tandem in flight, although it does look like the stoker is attacking the captain with a small black pudding

The YACF picnic section

The fact that it took 3 people to lift my bike into the truck does suggest it's not as light as I thought it was

I phoned Charlotte from the Black Lion at High Roding to see how far behind that tandem was, and was informed that she was in fact drinking beer at Moreton.  We relaxed a bit after that.

Oh...and we did dance up the hill in Finchingfield, being psyched-up to sprint after the humpback bridge.  The people we passed on the way up looked as if they were going backwards!

...

Are the white and red wiggle lines on the Tandem (along the top tube and on whatever the  tube from the headset to Liz's BB is called) cabling?  They could be a flash colour scheme, but from previous shots of it, I don't think there was any painting there, so I'm guessing it's cabling for lights (or similar).  It actually looks quite funky!
