Cambrian Series 2B perm from Chepstow.  The best 200 that's not on the calendar..

I'm sure Mal Volio nand I will take you round it if you can't be arsed to navigate!

Another vote here for the Valley of The Rocks.

It is a very fine 200k.

As already stated, the Dorset Coast has already passed but still exists as a perm and is worth doing.

On 19th Aug    The Tregaron Dragon  200 km   4.75 AAA

(Elan & Ystwyth 200 km  3.75 AAA on previous day - both Ross Jeal - both Gladestry starts)

Hmmmm - that would make a good weekend's riding

Also if you're still audaxing in September, I'd recommend Pistyl Packing Momma on the 16th.  First ran last year it starts/finishes at Old Ma's Café in Tattenhall Cheshire and the route takes you into Wales to Pistyl Falls, Lake Vyrnwy & skirts Snowdonia at Bala. Great roads & fantastic views.

I've been eyeing up those rides for a few years ... Gladestry is just under 200k from home*. So if I have the time off, I could make it 4x200 from my door. (With the option of DNSing day 3 - not all that unlikely!)

It would also be intersesting to compare Welsh climbing with the same amount ridden on the Marmotte route last year. Hmmm ...

(*Which I wouldn't have realised until running the Faffers 400 )

The Belgian 200s are also quite nearby for someonwe from the South. You could add one (or more) of them to get a different scenery.

The Kidderminster Killer (18th Aug) is only 10mins from Jn 4 of the M5.  It is reachable via the M40/M42 route from the London and Oxford

vested interest  ;D

I have never ridden the event but the San Faeries event from Bethersden in Kent in July has always appealed.   Interesting routes.

Fleet Moss and The Northern Dales are the only two calendar 200's starting in the current county of Lancashire, so you must do them, to keep them going. Edit, The Northern Dales starts just inside Cumbria of course.

This or the 2A gets the most fanmail - especially if you do Llandrindod to Hay via Hundred House and Painscastle.

Not sure about that. My 200s from Pendleton and Padiham start in Lancashire.

Andy, I thought that, then I realised ESL was probably referring to ones that are in the next few months, which is what the original post was considering.

the Impromptu Cafe in Elsdon, which every cyclist should visit at least once.

Ha. Did they tell you the tale of the brothers, one of whom died riding up the Gibbet?

Picking up on ESL's point, I think the Chevy is the only 200 to start within the county of Northumberland. Which is nearly as good for cycling as County Durham ;)

The New Forest Expedition is this weekend, which takes in the surprisingly diverse four corners of the New Forest (and then some).  It's a good ride.  Not a ferry good ride though - that's the On and Offshore later in the year, which is iconic.  I believe entries on the line are available.

Ah yes, so it is - name aside, it's still a jolly good ride.  It was the 200 I did that made me think "you know, I rather enjoy this long-distance lark" and led on to bigger things.  I guess that makes the ride inspirational.  I hope that when I ride it on Sunday, the rose tinted glasses aren't fogged up.

It's another ride in the South East that has snaffled the word "Expedition".  Modesty forbids me to refer to it directly, but it's on the August Bank holiday weekend.

Thanks for all the continued suggestions.

I am in for the New Forest ride on Sunday, I love it down there. I just hope it isn't going to rain for the entire day! It's actually my favourite place to ride.

Oh dear - I'm coming over from the 3D300 to do it, and I have an unfortunate effect on weather systems ...  Forgive me?

Oh. Er, would that by chance be a slightly hilly ride at all?
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

I run tubeless so they just seal up again, but if you stuck the pins in me, that's work :-)
