Why do they all look like human orifices?

Tree bark is amazing, isn't it.

Sounds like something one might say to a Judge.

Anyway, here are a couple I saw enjoying the age-old pursuit of "Join the Dots" in Costa Coffee.

Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

A little larger than the usual C.of.E baptismal Tupperware.

A trip out with Heather to look at some tree clearance at a site near Brampton. A chance to use a variety of focal lengths. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwOrKizyuxA

Norber, for a wander among the erratics, and to see if any new ones have turned up.

Walking back to the car the other night after an evening on Alnmouth beach. It really was dark - I might lighten a bit to print...

Nice day out with the walking group, and signs of spring.

Pen y Ghent from somehwere on the path from Horton to Ingleborough, certainly near the railway ?

It was fantastic day. We went up to Dent and did Great Coum. Cold up on the  top though.
Fanatastic views of Ingleborough , the Howgills, High Seat and right across to Hellvellyn .

We walked up from Selside to Ingleton, the advantage of going by coach is that you can do one-way walks. That takes you up the quieter ridge past Alum Pot. Difficult conditions to get the exposure right, so I just set the Panasonic LX100 to Intelligent Auto.

I quite like the shadows in this photo of a friend on our Velodrome taster session.  Totally fortuitous.

I love the backlighting that gives her a silver lining!

I'd like to say I chose my spot because of the back-lighting, and waited for her to come into frame, so I could capture the shadow perfectly in the window frame, BUT I just had a few seconds before it was my turn to ride the track again so I put my trusty compact camera on 1/400, Auto ISO, and kept my finger pressed as she came round the track.

The lighting in the Velodrome, apart from that one spot, at that time of day, with the morning sun out, was absolutely dismal for photos.

I only spotted that it was a great place to light someone when I opened the image in Photoshop at home.

Such is life.

If you Do go to Calshot, in April, at 10am, when the sun is out on a beautiful morning, then you can see the spot you should tell your friends to ride though on the far left.. (Shoot in RAW of course).

Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.
