Yes, the 3D was in last year's rides (a cracking day out too) but you are right in thinking it isn't there for 2013.

Although the same distance and (roughly) the same part of the world, it is different in character to the Hardboiled.

hi,
The 'original' wessex SR 300 was the hard boiled calendar event - the 3D calendar was added to the series later, with both it and/or the perm version of the hard boiled as qualifying WSR series rides.

To celebrate the WSR 20th anniversary the Hardboiled is being run as a calendar event in 2013, and so the 3D (which doesn't have a perm variant)  is having a year off: so the hardboiled it is.

Andrew
PS Although if you're really keen to do the 3D there is talk of stitching the hardboiled perm route together with the 3D route to make a DIY by GPS 600 of epic proportions here:http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=63094.msg1314287#msg1314287 !

Thanks for the info, I thought you had to do both the Hardboiled and the 3D to complete a Wessex SR, just to make it even harder. I'll give the DIY 600 a miss but I 'm definitely tempted by the series in 2013, hopefully see y'all in Poole at 2am on the 6th April!

In previous years, either 300 would suffice but this year, you have the opportunity of rding the Hardboiled on the Saturday and the Dorset Coast on the Sunday.

If I can fit this in around Life™ I'll be riding the series this year, my WSR badge has two rides I've not ridden on it so best square that circle with the Porkers and Hardboiled while they're calender events.

Please stop whining everyone.

I've said I'll be attempting it so, if I'm attempting it, anyone can attempt it.

I'm not sure why I said I'd be attempting it.

Very tempted to try these "knees permitting".

The plan is to get through Winter in one piece with my commuting, monthly 200k & club runs then in March I can start on my Peak District 200k (3AAA) diy for some hill work.

Let's see how it goes  :-\

Planning to do the Brimstone and possibly the Porkers depending on marathon running plans (have picked up new vice).  Won't get enough permission from Mrs CET for the full series.  Am only interested in vertically challenging stuff in 2013

I'm in.

Partly because, like Toby, I have two rides on my Wessex SR badge that I've never ridden.
Partly because I'd like to experience the Hellfire night stage again, but with a trip to Drew's halfway.
Mostly because its my local SR series so I can get home easily (will be good for the Hardboiled / Dorset Coast combo).

This thread has recently been brought to my attention, thanks Pete Mas, I had been trying to ignore it.

The dates are penciled into the diary.

I know Laid Back Rich enjoys this sort of escapade and suggest he will not be disappointed.

Especially with the Porkers.

Most of AC Hackney have entered the full series - the perfect preparation for LEL

The Porkers was a real ball breaker if I remember correctly - I assume the Hellfire is just an extension of that.
But yes, as Justin points out - AC Hackney will be lookig to ride the series in its entirety!

If you have ridden the Porkers already then the Hellfire will be a breeze (well, sort of).

Plus I would imagine there is a stop off at Mr Buck's which breaks up the 136k section from Taunton to Malmesbury that is a 'feature' of the Perm.
