People who read tabloids have a poorer vocabulary than those who read 'better' papers.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-29885222

But does this research put the cart before the horse? Maybe those who have difficulty reading choose 'easier' papers and the poorer vocabulary is the effect of the dyslexia, not the tabloid...

BONG!

I don't know how to break this to all you over 40s....but...

Rapper Big Paybacc has been shot dead north of Los Angeles.

Now the fuddy-duddies may be asking, "Who the f***?"

So the BBC have kindly explained who the f***.

The 38-year-old rapper was affiliated with former G-Unit artist Spider Loc, who was discovered by Suge Knight.

So that's cleared that up.

So, in the space of just one BBC news article I learned 2 things:

1) There is a Rappeer, Big Paybacc.

2) There isn't a Rapper, Big Paybacc.

Is Spider Loc any relation to Tone Loc?

BONG!

From the BBC News, my current favourite source of Not News.

The FA Cup second-round tie between Hartlepool and Blyth Spartans is to be televised live on BBC Two on 5 December.

This is not so much a sporting headline, more of an admission that the BBC lost any ability to compete with SKY when it comes to sport.

They really should have kept this quiet rather than boast about it.

Wow!, I was going to my daughter's wedding and then on the the Oasis reunion gig at the O2 on December 5th but hold your horses!
Hartlepool (I know roughly where that is) vs Blythe (Not a clue) Spartans...LIVE!  That's what the term "stay at home telly" was coined for.
I'm thinking that December 5th will be declared "National Hartlepool versus Blythe Spartans Holiday day" after this.

I'm guessing 5 people will watch this.  Probably cheaper for the BBC to pay for the tickets and travel costs to the actual game, for those who want to watch it, than to screen it.
Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

Hartlepool United FC used to be called (for some reason) Hartlepools United.

That's because there are two Hartlepools: Old Hartlepool and West Hartlepool.

It's almost a local derby as Hartlepool is on the northern edge of Teeside and Blyth is about 20 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Blyth Spartans have a long history of causing FA cup upsets, reaching the 5th round in 1977-78 season.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blyth_Spartans_A.F.C.#FA_Cup_exploits

It is unlikely to  be pretty football, but I would rather see 2 G.B teams kicking lumps out of each other than watch Italian, Spanish ,German or USAnian teams doing the same, which is pretty much all that BT Sport is showing at the moment.

Hell, yes.

A day at Victoria Park with the wind biting in off the North Sea? That's a proper football match, which I'd much rather see than any Premiership/Champions League encounter you could name.

The pies are shit, though.
