The Chicken has sung like a canary

Yeah, I know, another doping thread, but bear with me...

Michael Rasmussen has 'fessed up to doping at a press conference held earlier today, after being handed a two-suspension by Anti-Doping Denmark, who have said that he came to them of his own volition. The relatively light sentence comes from his having co-operated extensively with Danish anti-doping and sports authorities - and also the Netherlands, USADA and WADA. Apart from telling them about what he used and when, it's been suggested that he's also named names, which means that there ought to be quite a few ex-Rabobank and CSC riders et al who should have good reason to be nervous.

As a business model it's hard to find fault with it. Easy to get away with doping at the time, come clean a few months before you plan to retire so a suspension is meaningless. DS in a couple of years time when it's died down a bit.

It would be interesting if the doping suspensions applied to managers licenses as well.. Now that would be proper sanctions.

This is hardly news. Chickens full of drugs have been widely available for decades.

Sorry.

Remind me, does this overlap with Geert Leinders' time at Rabobank?

Yep.

I wonder how much of Rabobank was involved in this. It also goes to show that doping controls are still utterly inadequate.
Is the current lot really clean?
