Hoy and Kenny just lining up for the first of their final races... It's hard not knowing who to support!

(but having spoken to Chris I know he's a genuinely nice bloke, so I'm going to go with him).

Blimey! Kenny had a pretty big gap in the back straight, Hoy powers past to win the first by a wheel.

The Aussie had lead that one out, so completely different tactic to the first race. But Pendleton started winding up about a lap and a half out, went into the lead round the second last bend and simply stretched out. Meares sat up after the last bend knowing she couldn't close the gap.

Chris Hoy really is amazing.

4 Olympic gold medals in four different events. Considering the kilo was dropped and with that any initial thought of ANY gold medal will have disappeared!

Or to summarise - we're only guaranteed a bronze. So no chicken counting yet please.  :hand:

Eight cycling golds so far then. Not bad for a country with a pathological hatred of cyclists  ;D.

They also seemed to have every single move marked by the other teams. There's a price to pay for being so dominant!

Well, at least it's reassuring to know that it takes the combined cycling might of Russia, Italy, France, Germany and Argentina to beat us. And to be fair, all those other countries have Madison specialists in their team - maybe by 2012, we'll have cracked the Madison and the points race too. Clean sweep of golds in London? We can but dream...

Good on Cav for his brave attempt at a breakaway near the end, which may well have been good enough for a podium place if it had worked, but Wiggins was clearly too tired to help him pull it off. I feel sorry for Cav - he's the only member of the track team to come away without a medal.

Oh well, I suppose four TdF stage wins is some kind of consolation.  ;D

I'd stick a fiver on that. Most of our successful boys and girls will still be around in 4 years time and there is a wealth of youngsters coming through too. Wiggo was clearly shagged in the madison and Cav has been concentrating on the road so much this year that this was just a minor event for him.

It looks good for London.

That has to be Sir Chris now, surely?

A close pair of races, especially the second. Hoy was very gracious in victory, expecting Kenny to very soon be the best in the world. But there is more talent in the pipeline - Kenny may not even make the 2012 team  :o

Strength in depth, big style.
