Get Carter, the proper one with that nice Mr. Caine, is on ITV4 tonight at nine.

This has been a public service announcement.

"Your eyes are still the same, like pissholes in the snow"
Great film , now worth watching for the social history aspect alone. I can't quite remember Newcastle of the 60's but certainly passed through in the 70's and in 1979  finally took up residence at Newcastle Uni for 3 years.
The bar scenes are in somewhere like Yates' Wine Lodge near the station. It hadn't changed much when I first went there.
Spot the kazoo playing jazz band in the shotgun scene, brilliant juxtaposition of crime and violence with innocent pleasure.
Druridge Bay where the final scene is set is now a country park-all genteel like.

Sorry , just done a bit of googling. The final scene is set at Blackhall Colliery near Seaham, not Druridge bay.

You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!

Oh, sorry, wrong film.

Yes, Druridge Bay was used for quite other purposes when I was at Newcastle!

Not a lot of people know that.
