Was recabling an old old Brompton and found a rreally odd brake cable. It lookslike a spoke nipple soldered onto a cable. New standard cable just fitted into the levers. Will post a photo later. But any ideas. Was it a Brompton thing ? Some home brew idea of someone?.

It's probably a Sturmey-Archer gear cable.

How is the fluff attached? It could be important!

it's probably from scratching my head after trying to work out spoke lengths for the drive side of a Brompton earlier in the day.

Someone has probably used a control cable rather than a bicycle one, they tend to look like the one on your photo, as many are made up as one off items. It could also be from a moper or motorcycle.
