Tuesday afternoon and a bloke brings in a GT Chucker. Apparently I've told his lad that I'll replace the BB for 25 quid.
He also brought the remains of the chainset - which looked like it had been used as a prop in the 'Anvil Chorus'. The square taper more, sort of, wasn't. Square or tapered. Mullered is probably the best description. 'Someone' had tried to remove the BB with a chisel and succeeded in snapping half of the driveside cup off so fitting a splined tool had become impossible. They had also managed to chew up the frame which, being alloy, couldn't be heated to assist in the BB removal.
Honestly, it's the first time I have looked someone straight in the eye and refused to work on their bike. Not even the wheels were salvageable.
