The picture is titled "Vengeance is mine"
"Blacksoup is an enigmatic, Liverpool based illustrator and artist whose distinctive work, which
is often rooted in his native city, has gained him a loyal following. Firmly tongue in cheek, his
surreal, fantastical and often comical imagery asks questions of the viewer, while aiming to
leave them smiling.
This series of new work has been inspired by the city of Liverpool and it's inhabitants and will be
shown for the first time at the dot-art Showroom this Autumn. It marks a move away from the
more hard-edged style of his previous work, showing Blacksoup to be a versatile and
experimental artist. He says: "I had a vision of a Superlambanana in a fight to the death with a
Greek god after I banged my head one morning. From that an idea about epic battles taking
place across Liverpool began to fester. There's an element of dark humour in this exhibition and
it's all about conflict, the old against the new, good against bad.”
The Superlambanana statue in Liverpool is a short distance away from a building with a carving on Neptune on it's roof.
