Images in email signature
« on: 12 November, 2013, 02:43:16 pm »
Hello,

A client has recently rebranded and I've just updated the logo image source file used in their email signatures. It's hosted on their website.
In Outlook and Thunderbird, email signatures are still appearing with the old logo.

What do I have to do to make the new logo appear? I'm guessing the email clients are caching the old logo somewhere?

Thanks
D

Check the settings in Thunderbird. Its probably using an image stored on the hard drive somewhere, so you'll have to update that. On Tools menu -> Account Settings.

Change the file name.
+1. It's likely that receiving email clients are caching the image. Presumably the aim is to make sure that other people's receiving clients don't cache it. You can't do anything to their PCs, so changing the file name will force a new image to be used.

I didn't really want to have to go around all the machines and change the signatures themselves, ...there's quite a lot to do considering the number of staff.

Suffice to say, it's what I did in the end.
Thanks for the help though.
