Mosstrooper 2014 by moonlight

Rode the route as a DIY perm on Wednesday. Hence the reference to  moonlight.

One reason for the ride was to set up the cafe stops. As well as the hall at Muggleswick 40Km, where we will serve a  light breakfast we now have another fully catered control in Penrith 120K, at a church hall.  For the fast riders this will be coffee time, for those  taking  it steady Gail will be serving us light lunches. In Newcastleton 200K Linda at the Copshaw kitchen will be expecting you and  has agreed to open late. The final stop is at Elsdon 260K where  Marion &  Alan will be welcoming riders between 3pm* and midnight. We already have a good number of local CC members entered. With (basic) camping at the start/finish excellent  food  stops and a great route I hope to welcome a few more riders from further afield. - what a shameless plug.

*  I will be very, very surprised if anyone gets to Elsdon in nine hours :)

Looking at driving up from Manchester and take advantage of camping option. How basic is basic Aidan.

Dear Santa Aidan

For this year's Mosstrooper, please can you arrange for us not to have the vile north-easterly wind from 2011.

I'll be really good and enter all your rides and everything.

TIA

Dean

How basic is basic Aidan.
Just no showers, I will bring some buckets soap and  sponges - we should be able to get some hot water, so you can have a strip wash.
Outside toilet, barns (without cows) should  be able to provide hot  drinks and somewhere inside to sit  down. - Pub not too far away. I will be camping overnight  Friday/Sat and there is a club run starting nearby on the Sunday.

Signed up for this at the weekend*

I also spotted that it's England v Sri Lanka ODI on the Sunday at Durham so I might make a sporting weekend of it  :smug:  Will have to find somewhere to wash before the cricket tho  ;D  If there's a leisure centre/gym nearby I could always use that I suppose

*and after having been all inspired to start doing a bit of training I have come down with the lurgy and am currently sniffing and drooling

I'm not wanting to get anyone's hopes up but Metcheck's long-term weather forecast is showing as 17 degrees and 2mph ESE wind  ;D

Hmm I'll have to cry off this one. There is a local 300 on the same day. I was down to ride this in 2012 but my mate (& lift) cried off at the last minute.

Next year Definately!!

We're planning on riding.
Sorry.
That means it'll be 4 degrees, intermittent snow showers and a howling gale from the East, starting about 3pm.

I'm signed up for it. Never rode 300km before, so should be a laugh.

do we have to 'book' in order to camp or just rock up with a tent?
