For those days when when another 22 yards is just too far

I'm sure that one used to say 220 yards, before the Beard thing opened and the next pub was the White Bear (which, incidentally, I have recently discovered is quite nice when the students are away).

Not sure if it's NCN, but yes there is a (very narrow) cycle path to the right of the picture with a sign. Not deliberately cropped.
It's a couple of years since I've been down this disused motor-road and they've erected barriers and gates which I'm sure weren't previously there - my memory is that these No Entry signs did at one time serve a useful purpose, but nature wins every time!

"Commit no nuisance" is still seen all over Indian cities. Means "Don't piss here!" A less official but probably more effective way of ensuring that is to paint holy figures (Brahma, Shiva, Jesus, Islamic symbols... ) but probably would look a bit odd in a dockyard in Britain!

I saw the "PRIVATWEG" from a distance and my heart sank - the alternative was a long sandy track. Nevertheless I went closer and read the small print - "Anyone who takes care and keeps their dog on a lead is welcome to pass through."

So I did.

I was dogless. If I remember correctly, it was more of a horsey area.

They're not provided in London, sadly.

Mooching through some old photos, I came across one from the TdF, while I was in Skipton
