well, that made for an interesting approach to Aberdeen.  Half expecting the flight to be cancelled, instead arrived to 60mph horizontal rain which had disappeared by the time I got into town.  A blustery walk.

Storm Bastard (or whatever this one's called) has just arrived.  It was preceded by a very large flock of gulls, which is a bird we very rarely see here.  Quite ominous.

They are clearly anticipating anthropogenic sea level rise, Basil.

Really smells of spring today. Still a few weeks to go but it's near.

Powerful gale through here last night, sounded line a TGV line was right under the window. Looked for damage this morning, but not a thing, now even the bin blown over.
I've dusted all those old bottles and set them up straight.

Around 4:30 this morning, the rain was so strong it woke me up. I looked outside and there was a solid river of rain a couple of inches deep flowing down the hill, while gusts of wind blew a solid spray of rain back up the hill. It was quite a sight with water going both up and down the hill at once.

18°C here, sunshine and lots of bees on the crocuses.  It's supposed to get wet & windy overnight but nothing dramatic.

I had pretty poor sleep most of the night with the wind and rain rattling against the bedroom window.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit calmer and no disruption to travel.  Last Monday I ended up on the train that was supposed to be half an hour earlier than my intended train but only left ten mins earlier, and was lucky enough to walk straigt onto the Heathrow express which was running a reduced service.

No idea what'll be happening tomorrow, so I'll aim for the earlier train again

Had to move to the middle of the right hand lane of the A38 dual cabbageway to avoid a unexpected lake at Bournville Lane (even the shared-use-bollocks footway was severely underwater).  The flooding was impressive enough that the drivers weren't arseholes about it.

Lots of debris on the road, and drains struggling to cope.
Careful, Kim. Your sarcasm's showing...

I slept so well that I didn't hear the rain, it was only light rain when we got home at about 11pm last night but the wind was still up. But judging by flooded roads, it rained a lot overnight. We had to backtrack at one point as the road-spanning puddle had claimed a Cayenne (the water was mid-door, and it seemed abandoned, which was good as I didn't want to be guilty of rescuing the owners of a twatwagon). Never mind. Much sploshy everywhere else. Also had to avoid the local road-lake (normally navigable as once it reaches a certain height, it pours down onto the train tracks, but deep and impressive never-the-less). The hill outside the Asbestos Palace was an impressive river this morning.
