I am off to that London to see Billy Connolly and eat lunch and stuff.

We saw him a few weekends ago.  I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Forgot it is a Tiptree Velo weekend...might see you out on the road though!

Any idea of your route?

unfortunately not, I could ask but then we don't leave Tiptree until 10am so we'd probably only ever see you on the way home!

Now, comes some FORWARD PLANNINGI have to get my Hubs up to The Cycle Clinic in Glemsford and I am intending to ride up there next Saturday morning.

I will probably leave Tiptree around 8am head up via Coggeshall and the Belchamps then head back via Sudbury (late Breakfast at a Café).

There are train options back to Marks Tey from Sudbury for those that prefer that kind of thing ;D

By the way I've come up with a PROPOSED ROUTE for tomorrow morning that takes in the good bits from Wednesday evening.

Tippers.  I might join you on the Glemsford outing.  It would be a good opportunity to pick Malcolm's brains and get a ride in.

I am starting to get more than a little worried about the BCM now that it is February all of a sudden  :o

Wally's is now built in to the route. We can decide on the day though if we want to risk an off piste café in Sudbury. Wally's does work for bike security etc. though and they are good at dealing with cyclists....even ones that smash the place up.

Looks like about 4 from Tiptree Velo joining us as well (weather dependant)

Is this a Tiptree Velo chain gang I will be chasing, or will it be moderately paced  :o

it will be moderately paced. I have sold it as a Randonneur paced ride....if some want to race they can...but they will be waiting.

You coming on gears or fix?

Fixed of course

That said, if I can find the time to give the Domane some love (ie new cables, new headset bearings, new bartape etc) then I will probably give it a spin on the Brazier if it's dry.

I think I've got time for this. I could meet you guys at Pebmarsh, what time do you think you'll be there?

Right, I've made some small changes (on the home leg) to the route to get us to Wally's on the way back from Glemsford and to avoid the middle of Sudbury. Still a couple of bonus climbs on the return, Spout Late will be an interesting one for Ted on the Fixed, it's about the same as Hagg Hill so the steep bit is not too long but it is quite steep.

The amended route gets us in at bang on 100km.

I will be departing from Tiptree, picking up Carlos in Pebmarsh if anyone else wants to meet along the way let me know and we can estimate times.

Bit of local knowledge for you: Acton Lane via Newman's Green is not a very pleasant road to ride when the shoppers are rushing back and forward to Sudbury. It's quite a fast but narrow road, and it's scared me a few times - both in a car and on a bike. The A134 Sudbury 'bypass' (well, it was when it was built) isn't a pleasant ride either. I'd suggest carrying on through Acton to Waldingfield, down Valley Road to the 134, right and left onto Joe's Road then via Sacker's Green to Prospect Hill and rejoin your route.

Kedington Hill is fun either up or down, but I normally turn first left off the B1508 (another fast road with poor sightlines) up Chapel Hill. Not as steep as Spout Lane, but more pleasant.

Thanks Tim, that is very helpful. Spout lane is a particular favorite of mine but I usually approach if from the Bures side. I haven't been up there for a bit and will keep it in mind, if the road is too busy I'll just take the earlier option.

Noted on the piece around Sudbury, I will take that advice for sure!

Actually, the 134 over the top, past Homebase (MaccyD's) and down to the Cornard roundabout, really isn't that bad - it's just boring!

Yep, used that on a Few Audaxes, don't want to go past those Sudbury Golden Arches though!

The weather forecast is changing by the hour it seems.

Half of me is thinking like Tomsk and ready to brave the elements.

The other half is remembering what the great man that is Bobb said recently "I'm not going out in that shit, you carry on".

I could have a day of fettling in my man cave and go on the club run Sunday morning.

Final decision this evening...

DL, don't even think of quoting rules at me when you aren't even coming  :o

Likewise, I shall make a decision later...

That's good news DL.  So you are coming out to meet Tippers and the Tiptree Velo lot then cycling up to Glemsford with us and back via Wally's for brunch following Tippers' 100km route ?
