Just entered! The only other 400 I've done is the Brevet Cymru twice, so this will make a change.

Really looking forward to it, especially seeing a different part of the country.

We've placed a one-page A4 Flyer advertising this  year's National 400km here http://tinyurl.com/j75ca4k.

We're keen to reach keen cyclists, outside AUK, who might think that riding 400km in a day is not actually total madness.

If you know any people like that, CTC groups perhaps,  we'd really appreciate it if you could you share the link with them.

Thanks

Just entered. I'm doing the Rough Diamond as my first 300km in early July followed by this as my first 400km at the end of the month. I'll be mostly lying down in August.

Just a suggestion, but I would mention that it's 400km somewhere in the description. The title is ambiguous as to whether it's 400km or 400 miles.

Lovely, poetic write up in Arrivee - inspired and getting closer to that 'enter' button by the second!!

I'm trying to decide if its a good idea to enter or not. I really want to, especially as its on home turf.

I'm riding the Highlands, Glens and Western Isles 1200 Tuesday-Friday.

I'm currently weighing up if it is foolish or Audacious to plan to finish that Friday evening have a quick cat-nap then drive down to the start of the 400 (hopefully with time to spare for another nap before starting)

If I feel anything like I did after finishing PBP it should be no problem. However if the weather isn't as friendly in Ecosse I'm not so sure how I will feel.

More pondering is required.

I have found a round tuit an entered.  I'll be hoping to sleep in the hall beforehand too :-)
I'd better organise some train tickets.

Last time I heard, the number of entries was approaching 70 but I'm sure there will be room for more - can we tempt anyone?  JayP and I were out with the Van of Delights the other weekend for the Three Steps To Severn 600 and everything seems to be in working order.  Looking forward to seeing you all!

When's the weather ever unfriendly in Ecosse? Pah!
Your next 1200's your best 1200.

I am very tempted, but am I ready for a 400 yet? I am not sure. I have done one 300. I am going to do the Rough Diamond and if that goes well I will see if entries are still open.

If you've done a 300 and felt reasonably comfortable at the end, I'm fairly sure you'll be OK with a 400 that has as much TLC as this promises.

Some of the TLC will be courtesy of Peter Bond.  If you are lucky he won't play his ukulele at for you.

I did my first 400 after 2 x 200 and 2 x 100.  It hurt but was manageable even for an old crock with heart and lung issues.  It was the TLC that kept me going otherwise I would have packed at Penrith.  I am looking forward to this event but will be quite unprepared I am sure

Well I'm pretty much in the old crocks dept too. You may remember me on the VC167 400. I'm the old crock who shouted at you when you were heading wildly of piste in the final leg.  :)

And here's what another mature gent has to say:-

"I completed albeit at a crawl, a DIYbyGPS around this years course, a sort of one-up helpers ride. The route is a splendid look at all that is best in Peak Audax land!! cunningly put together by John Perrin a master at finding secret and interesting ways to follow.I have posted some pics on facebook, and recommend you put your entry in NOW and look forward to seeing you at the Upton Magna control.
My crawl at the finish was due to iffy feeding on the day, and lack of recovery from a recent 600 (it takes along time nowadays!!) the route is testing but not overly so."

That from John Clemens on the Audax UK forum.

Well I'm thinking of entering this also, max I've done is 200's last being Chirk. Normally knackered for about 3 days after though. But the TLC provided by Peak Audax and John Perrin productions in particular are making me think about it.

Going to see how I do next couple of weeks and hope I can still enter.

JohnR, if it's any reassurance I just stepped up to 300 last week and the recovery was very similar to that from a 200. The tlc will be very welcome on the National and I aim to have a cosy tent nearby to crash in for most of Sunday before going home! Hope to see you there!

John, if it will help, I won't be bringing the ukulele!

(can't totally rule out a harmonica, though.....)
