Straight outta Swindon

Probably one for RZ;

I need to get from the station to Whelford on Saturday a.m (along with the Rest of the World it's RIAT!). Stanton Fitzwarren and Hannington looks good but will they be open / one way this weekend?

Also any recommendations for fully loaded folder friendly routes out of the town to get to Stanton Fitzwarren?

Short answer: Yes (having ridden thru Kempsford --> Whelford --> Lechlade last w/e).

There were matrx/warning signs up re One Way System once you hit Kempsford, but you'll be OK Hannington -> Hannington Bridge -> (Outskirts of) Kempsford.

What's not clear is whether they're happy with non-motorised mixing with the motorised, as they push the shuttle bus (to presumably your Yellow Gate entry on the Kempsford/Whelford road).  Once / if you've snuck into Kemspford, there's a cycle track alongside the Whelford road, or mix it with the queue.

https://api.gpxplanner.app/api/download/RIAT?mergeSegmentsOnSaveToFile=true for a route.

I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Thanks; I don't have a ticket  :-[ but was going to stand just S of the E end of the runway. It looks like there's a quiet off road just after Hannington Bridge all the way avoiding Kempsford. From last year it was one way heading South after the show, I presume it will be one way North in the morning (like it is in reverse from the A217)

It was only an issue riding over those blue metal bridges as there was no room to pass but the traffic was very slow anyway. I'm heading back from Marston Meysey on Monday but I think the one way is only at the weekend

I know which way I'd normally go but it's a nightmare with all the road closures and one-way systems for the event.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

You presume correctly. Avoid the dual carriageway.

The A419 has a lot of car unfriendly bits!
It is simpler than it looks.

It seems you rode on the only week in 18 months (presumably last year too) when the Hannington Wick road was open. Sat am. was indeed no problem I rode past all the marshalls and the "ticket holders / purple passes only" signs. Even had a police motorcycle escort for some of it. The only delays were a couple of times I stopped to let a Swindon- airshow shuttle bus through (not a familiar route they had had to divert) and a short delay going over the blue metal bridges. Everything else OK all weekend.

Today the road was back to being signed as Road Closed, I rode over the blue bridges to find they had not just demolished the temporary ashphalt ramp up to the first bridge but had left the digger squarely sitting on and blocking the whole bridge! (managed to clamber round)

Some lovely lanes North of Fairford but the rest was mostly Airshow Man in their (albeit often very nice) cars.

yes saw that; not RIAT's problem one for the local council (whichever it is)
