Put a smear of grease on the movement of one of my D locks. It's only needed it for about four years. And yes, it's the one I use every day. Much smoother now.

Finished fixing a friend’s track pump.

Replaced a pair of brake pads on HK’s orange trike and tweaked the front derailleur. I think I will need to replace it soon.

Flint-mined two trikes.

Kemi BadEnoch for promoting the bullshit (from the IEA) about the alleged lack of effect that having an Empire had on Britain. And the bollock brained wankers who thought it up.

Been following Tom J on the tracker, because our paths have crossed many times over the years...but got drawn in to checking in on Morbihan and Wendy. A few days ago in Zeeland  it looked possible but unlikely that they would both finish within the time limit. What determination they have both shown, as indeed have all the finishers, in time or out of time....I'm quite exhausted!

The Knowledge / Re: Speed wobble

I've had speed wobble, shimmy, with a lightweight steel frame. Road surface or wind can make the frame go into resonance and induce speed wobbles. Shivering can also induce it. Also, weight behind the saddle such as a large seatbag, or a rack.
When I have to carry a large bikepacking style seat bag for brevets, I purposely over tighten the headset so there is a bit of resistance.  Probably not good for bearing life but effective in my case.
There is a headset available to prevent speed wobble, viscoset by cane creek.

Hmm - food for thought it was fine with 30s and 25s are fine on my other bike but I imagine these things are specific to a bike

I know it’s never been crashed and it’s a top quality Alu frame

If max pressure, then sounds like 28c is too narrow for your weight.

Regarding speed wobble. It’s to do with harmonics that can multiply in the frame for certain speed ranges and surfaces. If it occurs again, press a knee against the top tube, which can often be enough the dampen it, and bring it under control.

Another cause of speed wobbles is a misaligned frame.

Arts and Entertainment / Re: What's the last gig you went to see?
« Last post by Wowbagger on Today at 02:10:41 pm »
Last night. I went to a gig. The main band was Whom by Fire, a member of Whom sings in our choir. I sat next to, and chatted with, the Archbishop of York's mother, as you do. It felt quite odd, going to a gig in a church with a "bring your own booze" advisory, so I quaffed 2 pints of Fuller's 1845, and a pint of Broadside. That's more than enough strong ale for one night.
