And I have just regained my taste for malt loaf, having over done my dependence on it, during the Mersey 24 in July. The fact that the 'deliciously squidgy energy' is now endorsed by Rebecca Romero has absolutely nothing to do with it, oh no!

Yes Oh Master, I will obey ...

Marmite sarnies (we have some Marmite XO in the cupboard), nuts, dried fruit and malt loaf.  Anything I've missed?

[Goes off to Google what Rebecca Romero looks like ...]

Perhaps it has a dual purpose for when no-one's looking.

I'm suffering from a sudden bout of being sensible.

It appears highly unlikely that my bike will be repaired before Friday.  Also, although I'm back cycling, I doubt a night of camping would do my back any favours.  In short, strike me from the guest list.

Have fun!  I look forward to the post-ride reports.

I haven't booked the camp site yet but I'm definitely in - but am going to have to give boab's clearing a miss on this occasion.  I'l be on the first train from Witham to BSE, hoping to either get in the "bike section" of the train this time or at least not to meet the same twerp-of-a-guard-at-ipswich that we encountered on the ToB outing.

Campsite booked

Anybody who will be at the start care to exchange mobile phone No.s (PM me)? I've got a 30 mile ride to the rendezvous, and if I don't get up early enough, I'll need to intercept you nearer Thetford.

WJ you have a PM.

Right then, I shall not be troubling boab's clearing on Friday night - sorry  :'(  .  I can't leave Witham until gone 5:30pm and the chances of loading my laden bike onto a train without getting lynched by the commuters already on the train is remote.  And, I won't be getting to the clearing till after dark and well after 8pm so I won't achieve that much by setting off on Friday.

So, I will joining Oaky on his early Saturday morning train.  What time is it dear boy?

Weekend weather still looking good (dry from tomorrow onwards).

Does the panel think I will be likely to survive the journey on my Marathon+ tyres?

Another question - what time do you reckon we'll be at the campsite on Saturday?  I'm musing over whether to put my bar bag on for the main journey (which limits me to the dynamo halogen light only).  If we're off out in the evening I can leave that in the tent and free up some bar space for the Hope1.

If I'm going to need more lighting for the journey out, I'll leave the bar bag at home and find somewhere else to keep my Marmite sandwiches.

What other tyre options do you have?  I'd buy more tyres if I was you, you've a great excuse. You can't have enough tyres.

I've put my kknnnobbblies on [IRC Mythos 1.95"], but I reckon anything with a bit of tread and at minimum pressure will be ok. All that camping gear should give a bit of traction! I have used Conti Top Touring [old tread pattern, 1.75"] with no problem in soft conditions, just the occasional slight wheelspin. But proper off-road rubber is better, [and a pain on the road.]
I would have thought we would be at Holme-next-the-Sea before dark, with just a few road miles to the campsite. I'm not sure whether to bring my bar-bag too, but its more to do with whether I can stand it rattling. I'll probably experiment with an extra bungee between it and the front rack. As you say Oaky, its essential to have access to the Marmite sarnies. :P
I'm still heading up to boab's on Friday, so will see you all on Saturday, whether at the Ixworth cafe or subsequently.

Campsite is booked.  I might even book a train ticket for the 0721 WTM->BSE on Saturday to pick up at WTM tomorrow.

Not that I'm doing it, but when you look at the map, see how brown them thar fields are. I wonder what they grow in 'em? Or was the satellite passing over in winter time I suppose?
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

Great minds think alike - I has bacon & rolls for Sunday breakfast too - I bought enough for everybody too. If the other 2 have done the same, we'll have to set up a bacon butty stall at the side of the road.

The meths bottle I had put in one of the panniers (to remind me to refill the Sigg bottle on the bike) has leaked. Airing pannier outside at the moment.  >:(
