The stage WILL go ahead today, but will be shortened, with a new race start. The riders will be bussed to the new start after the neutral roll out. All the details on the Breakaway in 5.

Team sky have 4 riders in the top 10. That's gotta be a fun discussion on the team bus...

J

Who are team Sky?

Are we going to 'ironically' refer to all of the teams by their 2012 names, or just Ineos? Do we do so to prove we know who they used to be, or are we to infer that they are operating in some sort of disguise? Or is it to say 'I didn't like Sky and I don't like the team now, even though the name has changed'?

No, it's cos I couldn't remember the name Ineos. Brain fart on my part.

I understand why stages are being shortened and neutralised, along with rider wellbeing and all that but do you think that, in a few decades' time, fans will recall and journalists will write stories about "Remember that time when all the riders hopped into their team buses..."?

I'm looking forward to  the stage into Switzerland over the Grand Saint Bernard pass as I drove it in my campervan with my smalls about 5 or 6 years ago.

Oh well

It's in the listings for 7pm but seems like they've done a Quest and shown something else instead. Muppets.

Losing the pink jersey was planned. Today (Sunday) is supposed to be a very tough climbing stage, so his team didn't want the burden of controlling the peloton. Bruno Armirail isn't considered to be a serious General Classification (GC) contender, so Ineos aren't too bothered about him. Thomas's main concern is to keep an eye on Roglic.

I'm finding the whole thing rather underwhelming this year.  I'm sure it's fantastic for the individual riders who are winning stages against the odds but the GC "battle" hasn't got going after 2 weeks.  Marking each other 13k behind the break yesterday was the prime example.

Probably showing my ignorance - I'm not really knowledgeable about racing in general. I just like seeing the GC contenders bashing the $**t out of each other day after day ;)

Just watched it.

No real surprises other than Thomas got one over Roglic.  Barring accidents/illness I think we are already looking at the podium. Rest day for GC riders tomorrow, then 2 mountain stages. TT on Saturday could be exciting or not.

Eurosport are previewing the mountain time trial and speculating that some riders might opt for triple chainrings.  I do hope so, it might revive a technology I find vital for long audax events
