Do I need to use Schrader to Presta grommets?

I removed half the spokes in my front wheel and no longer have a pump problem. The wheel is well over engineered and is perfectly happy with 14 spokes. Need to tape the holes to avoid water going inside.
Rear wheel is usually Ok with normal pump heads, due to the crossed spokes leaving a bit more room than the radial construction.
