Overcritical?
« on: 09 April, 2010, 03:43:53 pm »
Two nights ago, I was waiting at a T junction close to home.  Directly opposite was a car with an older woman at the wheel, clearly wanting to set off.  In front of her was stood a younger woman, facing the direction of the traffic.  There was nothing parked behind.  I waited to see what would happen, as I didn't want to turn out into conflict with a car pulling away.

To my astonishment, the younger woman (daughter?) was watching the traffic, and signalled to the older (her mother?) when there was a gap in the flow she could pull into.

Now, I might be overprotective, but if my mum (well, my mum doesn't drive, but my dad, maybe) were so incapable of using rear view and door mirror, or turning to look for traffic that she needs someone to guide her out on a straight clear road, I would not be letting them drive AT ALL.  How on earth can she cope with junctions, or even simply driving along?

Terrifying that such people are out on the road in charge of tons of metal. :o
