A slow moving thunderstorm got me on the way back from halfords this evening. Mildly moist now  :)

It was a judgement for going to Halfords.

proper cloud burst in Wokingham this  evening, fortunately just before I went to leave work and I therefore delayed my departure. The basement lobby from the undercroft carpark flooded, then on route home the fire brigade were pumping flood water away from a house and numerous roads were ponds.

More worrying was the car that had been struck by a falling tree.  :o

However 6 miles later when I got home it was clear that it hadn't even rained.

But they did give me free outer gear casing for the trice :)

I heard that & saw the flashes. It moved westward rather slowly & got here just after Mrs B arrived from from work, so she waited an hour before going for her usual run.

Correction: it has just started. It has been really stiflingly humid and oppressive here this morning. Nothing like has hot as the past few days, but Something Needs To Be Done just to clear the air.

Seems Watford's wetness was a problem today.

The rain was of Biblical proportion this morning (I work about 7 miles north of Watford.  I've never seen roads in the uK running with so much water. Hemel where I work is a series of ups and downs, and all of the downs were full!

According to the Met Office it should be chucking it down all day here. It isn't. There's some light drizzle that wouldn't get you wet if stood out all day in it.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

It has been raining a bit, but as Nicknack says, the Thames estuary is not getting nearly as much as has been forecast.

The visual satpic animation at http://en.sat24.com/en/gb/visual is good at the moment as you can see where northerlies in the west are rubbing up against southerlies in the east.  OK - I know that the two sets of clouds are at different heights...

First smell of 'smokey' autumnal stuff when the bins were emptied this evening.

My temperature graph went negative below zero for the first time last night.  Also, the heating ran to maintain the bedroom temperature early this morning.

Just noticed that it's only 5°C colder than the start of PBP 2007, and not raining as heavily.

So far today has been cool, a bit blowy, but nowt special. Until 5 minutes ago. The torrential rain is falling sideways and I think the roof is coming off

Just watched a torrential cloudburst while NW3weather recoded 0.0mm rainfall.
Again

The washing was drying nicely in the sun, aided by gusts if wind. Then the horizontal rain arrived. I got it in before the rain got heavy, but I couldn't face going out in the not only horizontal but heavy rain that was battering the windows.

And now it's stopped, & the sun's come out.

Horizontal showers here but no sun. Wind gusting 60 kph with 85 kph promised.  As me Dad used to say, it's a good thing nobody's out in that except the polis.

And our builders

Horizontal rain, sleet, hail. Pool of water next to the bay window. Can't see where it got in. hopefully not the lead roof.

The shower arrived as I was about 2.5km into a 6km run. Might as well press on rather than turn round then.
It had, of course, stopped by the time I got back to work.

As mentioned elsewhere, our alu/plastic greenhouse got bowled over this morning.  Polytunnel across the road wasn't touched.

I'm very glad we had our cherry tree cut down last month.
