Ditto.  I think the Essex Pub Rescue Brigade may need to mobilise this Wednesday :)

Who are we going to rescue?

Dunno ... Compasses?

(Thinking about somewhere plumb in the middle of the North Chelmsford, Dunmow, Witham area).
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Hmmm, I'll have a think about it.  My focus is on SEG's &5 this Sunday so not sure I can be arsed to have two bouts of cold cycling in one week.  I seem to be turning into a fair weather cyclist  ;D

Depending upon favourable road conditions to non-Marathon Winter tyres I could be up for a visit to The Compasses, although not intending to be too late departing from Littley Green for home to maximise chances of getting home without closely inspecting the road surface.
I too am looking to the SEG 75 and taking a view as Wednesday being a leg loosener for the weekend  ::-)

Yeah, why not  Weds night forecast for -7 !

I need a ride: last weekend was mostly devoted to finding a replacement for Mrs Tomsk's car, though I've been doing what is, I believe, known as 'cross-training': sledging, weights [ok shovelling snow] and even [whispers] running [6 miles on Friday]

I'm hoping I won't need to thrash M. Winters around the SEG 75, though!

I've been "cross-training" too.  i.e. shovelling snow from our drive, hill-running (in between sliding down on a sledge with the Acorns) and more snow shovelling (clearing most of the car park of the Bell in Woodham Walter, where our car became somewhat stuck after sledging).

I reckon around 9:00 at the compasses tonight.  I'll be setting off from Witham about 7:40 ish once Acorn#1 is back from Brownies.

OD, huggy - how are you chaps looking for tonight?

The temperature forecast has picked up a bit for tonight - it's only going to be 0o according to the Met Office.
Apart from the obvious ice obstacle the only other concern I have is adequate gloveage, even double gloving on the return from office commute yesterday was nipping at the finger tips.......Joss does hot drinks for thawing purposes doesn't he?!?

If you let your fingers get cold enough, then any drink is hot enough to warm them!  ;D

B. Dancing Dick's Lane / Terling Rd
Seems like a good place to meet.  Rendevous at 19:50 or 20:00?

I have just been to Chelmo & back.  The cycle track beside the A12 is all but impassable, so was going to suggest a more direct route to The Compasses myself  :)
I came back via Hatty Pev & Witham Road from Terling - all quite reasonable along that route.

It was even better out on the road.  A lovely night for cycling, and great to see huggy and Tomsk.

The Compasses had Oscar Wilde and Bishop Nick Ridley's Rite as well as Adnams (which wasn't sampled).  I also ventured out and tried the Black Dragon cider, which was palatable enough to have more than one of.

I had a bit of a play on any ice I could find on the way home.  The fairly steep uphill, rutted exit from Terling ford onto Owls Hill defeated me, but the MWs behaved well when not taking the piss.

Is this a bit too far for a MEMWNS ride?

Gewgal mapz says it's only 200 miles  ::-)

Perhaps it could be built into the WWW600* (Witham - Wales - Witham)

Or to give it it's full title / url: www.utterlystupid.shagged

Sometime in September this year.  I'm hoping it will be the culmination of our triumphant SR campaign!

You doing the SEG75 this Sunday?
