I'll always remember him as the eccentric tank commander Oddball in Kelly's Heroes - cue the obvious quote:

"Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?"

Mind you, I also quite liked his turn as the cynical Col. Fetisov in Citizen X...

A very young DS is in "Dr Terror's House of Horrors", which is well worth watching.  Includes Peter Cushing (unrecognisable), Christopher Lee and, more bizarrely, Roy Castle and Alan "Fluff" Freeman.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

TBF, his Oirish accent as the IRA sympathiser in The Eagle Has Landed was better than Joss Ackland's attempt at Sath Efrikaan in Lethal Weapon 2...

"Never travel without an olive."  Or was it a martini?

Kelly's Heroes is one of my all time favourite films and Oddball one of my favourite characters.

"how can you have a martini without an olive?"

"we're in a war, where are you going to find an olive?!"

That's it.  Started to watch M.A.S.H. last night but Prime must have been saturated by people watching Donald Sutherland films and b0rked an hour in.
