After having gymmed plus cycled on Friday and another cycle on Saturday, I woke up this morning thinking I needed a rest. So of course I spent the whole day in the garden didn't I? Am now knackered.
Potted up a load of anise hyssop seedlings, some foxglove seedlings, and repotted some monarda/bergamot seedlings (not convinced they are going to live but we'll see). Planted out 2 'salvia sensation' that I got in the garden centre bargain bucket the other day (£3 each).
Then I went out the front determined to lift some of the foxgloves that have self seeded into the chuckies and put them into the flowerbed. At which point I remembered there were some GBFO rocks in the flowerbed covered in about an inch of soil which I'd been meaning to remove, so I dug my brother's mattock out of the shed and heaved them out and rolled them out of the way. Then filled up the huge holes with compost and transplanted the foxgloves. There are still loads more seedlings in the chuckies but I will try moving them if they get a bit bigger.
Then I decided to have a go at the long grass and finished clover with the grass hook. And then the grass hook needed sharpening.

The kids needed some fresh air so we all walked with the hound to the allotment

They picked probably close on a kilo of raspberries which are in the freezer become sorbet. I weeded loads which was overdue but annoyed me as lost a lot of crops. Had about a dozen cabbages and down to three which isn't a surprise as found HUGE slugs. The parsnips have as usual done nothing. Three rows, heavily sown and got 2 germinate. Wasn't a fresh pack so should have known better

Only the beetroot have done  anything really

At least the kids enjoyed it having battled to get them out the door especially when they found a couple of small lizards.

Now just need to go and dig through the weeds I added to compost and find my onion hoe

Parsnips very fickle, definitely need fresh seed. Ive had good crops in the past,  ot much point planting them round here thobut

I found caterpillars on the cabbages, harvested some purple kale, removed affected leaves on the other cabbages and decided one of the winter heading cabbage was too far gone. Also removed the mass of bramble behind the veg patch, which id been hoping would fruit, but was just elongating. Hacked back the lemon balm, started harvesting the figs, quite early  for them. Also some very early raspberries on the Autumn Bliss. Cucumbers coming in as well.

I also rode the bike

Pruned the rampant Wisteria on the pergola. Filled 2 sacks with the prunings. Then fed the tomatoes, and cut dead wood out of a couple of honeysuckle. The garden (apart from the veg patch) is parched, with inch wide cracks appearing.

As the garden including the permanent stuff like roses needed a good soaking due to the complete lack of rain recently got the girls to help me. Water butt's are long dry so it's out the stream. If id have planned garden better pots and roses etc would be near stream rather then the the wildlife pond and baths in which I grow veg as have to carry lots of water up the garden

In true kids fashion did not want to help.....however pretty much everything in the garden is now soaked including plants, paths, shed and most importantly both the kids

MrsC has been worrying for some time about the largest of our waterlilies.
So after lunch we decided to remove it. When I found the tuber, parts of it were three or four inches across. I had to break it into several pieces before I could extract it from the pond. The water level seems to have done down by about three inches. I am now rather knackered as that's the first really physical thing I've done since catching Covid around this time last week.
MrsC was correct in that it was far too big for the pond. Fortunately there is a waterlily specialist nursery not far from us, so a trip there to ask questions and purchase a rather smaller replacement is being planned.

Blitzed the front garden, all 6 square of it. Removed a several of perennial sweet peas, a clematis from the front of the house, cut back the small bay tree, hedge-trimmed the rosemary, ripped up load of tormentil. Filled a bedsheet, tied the corners, went to the tip, had to be very a
O loge tic as I’d forgotten ID, but they can’t turn you back anyway as it’s a one way system.

Dug up yet another huge boulder in the front garden, moved some wayward foxglove seedlings, moved a perovskia (last chance for it) and planted a whole load of gifted plants (mostly ground cover, nothing exciting). Let's see if anything comes back next year...
